As of next Saturday we are allowed to go for a drive/ride in QLD as long as it is no more than 50 Km from your residence. Here is a nifty little calculator to determine how free you can be. So who's up for a short ride if not the weekend maybe Monday. http://www.australiapostcodes.com/postcodes-within-a-radius What will happen if I go 51 Km does my Brick turn in a pumpkin or even worse a Hardley??
Regards Martin.

Here in the New York Metropolitan area riding has been an acceptable form of social distancing so I have been out every day the sun has been out ! It's the only thing that has kept me somewhat sane . I hope you all down under are doing well and staying healthy .Now go riding and enjoy yourself as much as you possibly can . Stay healthy and safe

Thankfully I see no radio tape player on that orange bike, I'd find it hard to stay straight faced with a smashing pumpkins tape in the player.

I’m reading this as 50 K miles? Cool  Very Happy

UK won’t pronounce til May 7 and are currently thinking maybe another 3 weeks on top of that Sad. I’m hoping that some of the Summer rally season will be salvaged otherwise I’ll be going from Winter to Winter!

Enjoy and stay safe, I’m noticing that those drivers that are on the road seem to have forgotten how.

Damn right. Last night some twat tried to take me out on a roundabout in a 30mph limit at around 45mph. Guess what? He was racing his mate but I had right-of-way and was crossing his path a long time (maybe a second!) before he got there. Then he had the bloody cheek to hit the horn and give me the finger as I left the roundabout.

A coupla days ago the state police Twittered out that they'd caught people travelling at 137, 133 and 123 mph. One driver received (only) a $463 fine and a warning. Normally that'd (again, only) be a $550 fine and a trip to the lock up, but the occifer had a chat with the driver and sent them on their way. I have also noticed drivers are pedalling a lot faster than normal on the roads, especially the interstate.

I, too, have been able to get out and ride most sunny days. I always manage to keep a distance from others and the relatively empty roads are sweet. It's gunna be sad when I have to share them again.

Oh, and I want to dispel that quaint notion that if riding a police-type motorbike other drivers slow down. A slight few adopt the "halo", but most drivers don't even notice that I'm there and go flying past.

I had a PM from Matt and apparently, I have jumped the gun it looks like you can only go for a ride with one other person. The rules are a bit wishy washy and open to interpretation.

Medical Officer, we looked at what social restrictions, and to what stay-at-home restrictions we could ease.

Coronavirus questions answered

Breaking down the latest news and research to understand how the world is living through an epidemic, this is the ABC's Coronacast podcast.

"People can go and have picnics. People can go boating. They can go jet skiing.
"They can teach their child in the same household how to drive."
But she warned the changes would be limited to families from the same household or, for single people, one other person.
"We don't want to see groups congregating and if groups are congregating, the police will be around," she said.
Ms Palaszczuk said she would be downloading the Federal Government's new coronavirus tracing app today.

What will be allowed?

People will be permitted out on boats or to ride a motorbike.
Shopping for non-essential items like clothes and shoes will be allowed.
Some national parks will also reopen, but campgrounds will still be closed.
Environment Minister Leanne Enoch warned people would still need to observe social distancing.
"The fact we can reopen some areas is great news and a reward for Queenslanders doing the right thing during this pandemic," she said.
It says you can ride a motorbike but it doesn't say how many?? I might have to drop into the local cop shop, but that could be even more confusing if they're not on the same page.
Regards Martin.

No problem. I'll ride, say, 30-40m distant from my mate. Another 30-40m pair might be 100m away. How many pairs is a piece of string? Wink

Pity that joining you would involve an unacceptable travel distance from home, not to mention Anastacia's border checkpoints.

Bill

Not being as skilled as McQueen, or as young as he was at the time, I think it would probably be a leap of fatality!  affraid

Would it be counted as another COVID-19 death?   Question Question

Couple of the Brissie Krew headed out to enjoy our new found freedom. Paul and I met up at Dayboro (Martin was a late scratching due to self-isolation) and did a loop over Mt Mee to Daigular, Woodforde, Kilcoy (with a detour - no dirt for a change) Somerset to Esk, doubled back over Mt Glorious, Samford and home. 288k in a 50km radius - QLD Km are a bit longer than other places due to the distance Shocked

Good to get out and about again. Busy around Samford and Mt Glorious, the rest was pretty much empty roads. Paul doesn't know that he is 72 and set a cracking pace. Nearly got blown off the mountain with wind gusts on top of Mt Mee - leaning left but going right??? Bloke behind me had a laugh. Couple of stops for a sausage roll, coffee and look at the view.

Top morning out.
