I am wondering if I am going to cause myself issues if I replace the bolts in some calipers I have here?
I have no reason to separate the halves but the heads of the bolts have gone a bit rusty and I would like to replace them.

Aahh the sea air is a wonderful thing.

The idea would be to pull them out one at a time and replace it  with a new bolt before going on to the next one. Would it be worth clamping the caliper together as extra protection against separating them.

Thanks

You will have the four piston calipers and I replaced mine with stainless bolts and needed to get bolts with the correct thread and shank length.
The OEM bolts have a much shorter length of threaded section and the shank which is not threaded needs to be the same as the OEM bolts because that unthreaded section is what aligns the 2 halves. I bought bolts that were longer than the OEM and cut some of the thread off.
If you get bolts that are threaded for the full length (machine screws} it will allow the halves to be misaligned.
