Well after stripping and cleaning my starter motor i thought my probs where solved for a while but alas not. I was out riding today and after about 50 miles at first it refused to rev past 5k so i pulled over all seemed fine but by the time i got home it was running rough and seemed as though it kept going onto 3 cyclinders.

I was riding fairly hard but not thrashing it just letting the ponies out Smile so now it feels really rough dosnt want to go from under 2k rpm and now runs rough all through the rev range but the roughness seems to come and go from 3-5k. Anyone have any ideas im still learning my K and have no clue where to start tbh >.<

maggot ....could be all sorts of things ....i suggest start at the easy stuff ....did one of the plug tops come off ....happened to me after doing some maintenance ...dipsy dooley here didnt notice how the plug wires were setup ...(they tend to hold each other in when done right ) .

---but check the high voltage stuff out of the coil packs and path to the plugs... i guess thats all im going to venture till there is more info

I agree with Charlie in that you were working in the neighbourhood of the coils and could have dislodged a lead. One thing that keeps the leads on the spark plugs is to cut a short length of fuel line and slide it onto the metal tab on top of the ignition lead. It takes up the space between the spark plug cover (that says BMW) and the plug tops and keeps them pressed on.

This what I meant. Note the short pieces of fuel line which prevent the plug caps from popping off the spark plug. Of course I always recommend the correct use of the threaded 'nubbin' on each sparking bolt!

This image was taken some time back and I have since replaced the old, frayed hoses with nice new rubber bits!

Worth a check to be sure that the spark plugs all have the little screw on bobbins on top, a good few people have found that previous owners have not fitted them with the problem the spark has to jump the gap inside.

Same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago.
Started to miss under load, progressively got worse.

Went to check the plugs and the number 2 spark plug cap was resting on the spark plug.
Pushed it back on and now everything is fine.

Maggot, I hope this is the problem you have. I was starting to think the worst!
