Got a new braincracker;
I remember I read somewhere someone has managed to get the K1200 6-gear into a 5-gear K75/100/1100 housing.
But that's all I know.

Someone shine a light for my old brain? Very Happy Idea

I've never heard of such a modification Arlina.  However, your question raises one of my own.  I wonder why someone would find a 6-speed transmission in a K1100 to be a desirable thing.  I had a modern Japanese bike with such a transmission and frankly, I found that I don't like having to shift so often.  K-bikes (all BMWs, really) have broad power bands that make them easy to ride and give good performance with 5 speeds.  What would be gained with a 6th? 
Extracting maximum power from small engines dedicated to competition -- yes, I see the worth of many speeds in the gearbox, but for BMW road bikes?  What am I missing here?

I've only read here of TWB's K1200 engine swap into K100RS frame.

In my experience, the purpose of sixth gear is to lessen vibration of a moto at expressway cruising speed. Its use increases the rider's comfort and also tends to increase fuel economy.

The only real advantage would be to get better mileage at high speed. I ride pushing 90 MPH in Montana where the interstate speed limit is 80 so you can go that fast without getting a ticket.  If you keep the throttle bodies sync'd then vibration isn't an issue but once you get up around 80 and above on a K1100 the mileage noticeably decreases.

I think Larry Romestandt has done that but it's not a straight-forward swap.  You have to adapt the hydraulic clutch and fool around with the starter motor IIRC. Larry's an ex-aerospace engineer so what's impossible for us mere mortals is BAU for him.

Yeah, Larry does a bit more than swaps. Laughing  For the K-Gusta he custom designed the rear wheel in CAD and then 3-D printed a mockup before he built it.

Your recollection could be of an R1200C final drive gear swap which has arisen in a few discussions concerning sixth gear conversions. The owner who managed that was satisfied with the outcome.

Some "improvement" on that front can be had by swapping in a slightly taller K1 final drive on a K1100.

FD gear ratios:
K1100LT - 32/11=2.91
K1100RS - 31/11=2.82
K1 - 33/12=2.75

You can get considerably taller, I think its the R1200LC inners will fit into the Paralever final drive housing. I was sent a full spec on this some time back with specific model and part nos.

As for 6 speed inners into 5 speed, it don't go. Ben Kingham at BSK investigated that one. Gearbox swap is not an option due to the frame change.

He is a forum member.

It is the rear drive he swapped. Put a 2.53 gear set from a R1200C into a pars lever K1100.
I have a set of 2.62 gears from a K1200RS and it gets a very small decrease in fuel consumption and gets the buzz out of the 100kmph speed range.

That 2.53 is the one I was told but you need to carefully check the part no and model because it seems to be different in different areas.

It was a 2.54 (32:13) gear set from a R1200C that I originally fitted in 2002 to the mono lever final drive of my K100 and then later fitted to my K1100RS in 2006.  I sold the K100 to a mate who still owns the bike and still has the gear set in the final drive. It increased my fuel range in the 1100 from 380km to 440km by dropping 500 rpm off top gear at 100kph. At 100kph the engine is doing 3500rpm. Due to the torque of the 1100 motor there was no noticeable loss in performance. Fitting the gears was well worth the effort.

That's the change I have in mind but 2 K1100LTs I got have 31/11 final drive ratios.

Imagine the rear frame mods required to fit a (much smaller than five speed, non-structural) six speed K1200RS/GT gearbox - which rubber mounts to the aluminium spar backbone, not a relatively spindly tube frame - into a K100/K1100 frame! Larry Romestandt did it with his Kgusta but cut the mounts from blocks of ally & etc. Still, it'd be a challenge. Easier to simply swap the final drive set as suggested.

k 1200 engine can be fitted to a k 1100  with the 1100 drive train, the 1200 drive train mounts are completely different would require some major changes to the frame. A k100 has much the same setup as the k1100 so should fit , it also needs some minor clutch tweaks, k1200 motors are becoming easier to get than 1100 motors in Aus . I got a very noisy k1100 thinking it might be easier to fit a 1200 than rebuilding the 11
