Hi does any one out there know the optimal readings?? I've upgraded my injectors and i am going to get the gasses read at a friend's mot garage. The maf has been adjusted with the lean drop method but its still running rich. I've addressed all the intake leaks (many) and will balance the tb's once the maf has been dialled in. What's the magic number people????

What type of readings are you seeking—dynamometer, emission, rune, I Ching? Smile

CO value 2 to 2.5 % at idle. What did you do to upgrade the injectors. BMW designed the OEM single hole injectors to spray directly onto the back of the inlet valve to cool the valve and atomise the spray further.
Regards Martin.

I looked at the four hole injectors years ago when they first popped up. I had a talk to a mate of mines son who was an injector specialist. He did a bit of research to check out where the the injector sat and where it sprayed. He came back saying I would be wasting my money as the single hole injector was designed to work with he Bricks combustion setup. He said that I would derive more benefit by cleaning and balancing my OEM injectors.

I set up my own cleaner test unit running off my compressor hooked to a injector pulsar. On checking the flow and patterns they required cleaning but once cleaned a couple of times the spray and flow equalised. There was a a notable difference to be felt on testing the bike but not provable without a dyno. If I had fitted the 4 hole I also might have felt an improvement due to comparing clean to dirty injectors. Some riders have reported using more fuel with the 4 hole injectors and switched back to 1 hole. I have looked online for a Dyno comparison of 4 hole versus the 1 hole and have yet to find one. Due to the reduced size of the holes the 4 hole ones would be more prone to blockages.

However the feel good benefits from having 4 holes against 1 hole may out weigh the science. I'm waiting for somebody to prove the benefits by posting a dyno comparison between a set of 4 hole ones to a set of reconditioned 1 hole injectors.
Regards Martin.

Thanks for the information it is very much appreciated. I've not binned the old injectors. I will see how these ones go over a period of time and see if any problems arise.

I put 4 hole injectors in my 84 RT, the originals being...original,

They upped fuel consumption by 15% and did seemingly improve the running, but only because of being brand new.

After 3,000 miles I put the cleaned up originals back and fuel consumption back to normal.

I didn't put it on a dyno but the riding convinced me the single hole injectors are better!!!

These 4 holes injectors have a larger debit than OEM ones, so it will increase fuel injection... And emissions (CO and HC). There's no point using them if no other mod is made on the block.
All the bullshit about the better fuel atomization and dispersion is useless on K2V system: injectors spit once per revolution, one time the valve is open, one time it's closed. The engine then sucks what it can when the intake valve opens.
The only advantage is that they're available but OEM Bosh 1 hole injectors are not.
I've tested cheap plastic blue injectors found on eBay, made in Gadgetland. Very satisfied with, they worth the 30€ they cost (for the 4!)
