I'm in the process of fixing the fuel pump wiring for my K100RS (16V). When I looked in the tank and saw the mess (missing insulation/frayed), I quickly pulled the sender to get a better look. The wires definately need replaced and I've got a little bit to clean up in the tank. Instead of replacing the entire sender, I'm hoping to just replace the brown and black wires and terminal lugs. I can do the crimping and soldering. I've seen that PTFE/Teflon insulation is recommended. What I didn't see was the correct gauge wire to get and what size and where to get the terminal lugs. I'm thinking AUTOZONE or similar may work but not sure.

QUESTIONS:

1. What gauge wire is used for the fuel pump?
2. What size are the two terminal lugs.

I forgot to post the picture of the fuel tank connector. I'm not sure why, but a previous owner replaced the OEM connector for the tank  with a 4-pin tow connector. Is this some sort of recommended modification? Just curious since it's a bit odd. See pic below:

1 TL is M4, the other is M5.

That tank plug is a good mod.
I use Superseal connectors (no china shit).

Thanks for the good info. I found the wire gauge via the EuroMotoElectrics website. Seems it is 16 awg. I've got wires on order via eBay and terminal lugs on order via MOLEX. Hopefully, I'll have the tank put back together within the next couple of weeks. Shipping will be slower I'm sure.

Make sure the wire insulation is suitable for immersion in fuel. Normal PVC insulated wire is not rated for that application. It will quickly harden up and break exposing the bare conductor. You should be buying teflon coated wire.
