Went for a ride today, stopping after about 30 minutes to get a bite to eat. Got ready to leave about 20 minutes later and the bike was hard to start. Had to hold the throttle open about half way to get it going. Arrived home about an hour later and checked before parking her in the garage and it did the same thing. Ideas on what to check or a link on further reading would be appreciated.

Thanks!

To rich mix, due to a open in the temp sensor circuit..or bad temp sensor?

Measure the resistance between contact 10 at the FI ECU connector and ground, compare with the diagram in the troubleshooting guide at the portal.

As Charlie says, too few clues.

From all of the other posts I've read, I'm going to start by checking the temp sensor. I haven't had the bike long enough to have had this problem before today. Today was the first day I've gone on a ride long enough to get it good and warm.
It cranks like it wants to start, but doesn't fire. Just out of curiosity I turned the throttle about half open and it reluctantly started, like it was flooded.
Let me check the temp sensor tomorrow and post my findings.

Well, oddly enough I can't get the problem to repeat itself, which is a good thing, at least for now. Thanks for the help, I will let you know if it happens again and hopefully get more info for you.

hmm starting to sound like some corrosion around the throttle position switch assembly

crikey may not be right ...but the clue might be that once that you opened the throttle a bit you got some change happenuing , but having said that we have also seen a few air flow meter vane issues or mechanical wear issues internally to the afm

just guessing here
