Hey to all, My name's Jeff I live in Waterford Michigan, I bought my first road bike an 85 k100rs last fall but just found you today. This is my first road bike at 43 yrs and from what i can tell I did a great job picking this bike. The guy that owned it was a collector before he died and he had it restored to working original(he had some changes, different seat and handlebars) and had drained all the fluids so no gumming to deal with we just filled her up and charged the battery and took off! been loving it and getting compliments ever since. Whats the best place to start on this forum as I don't know didly about BMWs and the closest dealer to me is a hour away. looking forward to learning alot from you here and maybe making some riding contacts.

Welcome to the forum Jeff sounds like you got a good bike, you will be totaly in love with it soon.
The first thing we recommend is to change the fluids but your one step in front already.
It probably has been done but keeping the splines in the drive line well lubricated is important, if you have the tank off go over all the electrical connectors as they are very good at giving unwanted problems at the most inopportune time. When I first got a K100 I spent a lot of time riding and also a lot of time just tinkering with it to find out how it worked.
There is heaps of reading here and don't hesitate to ask about even the simpliest problem as most here have dealt with it or some thing similar.
Enjoy the ride and keep the shiny side up.Very Happy

Welcome Jeff
just ride and get used to it, and see if you pick up any noises/rattles leaks (brake lines etc). Sometimes the odometer will play up but everything is covered in this forum. You don't even need to have the BMW dealers phone number in your phone.
