Strange problem. During a trip in the highlands, after having gone through a puddle that was slightly (!) deeper than anticipated, I have the left indicaterscontinuously coming on. The only way to switch it of is to first push the left indicator switch and then to switch it of in the normal way (right hand switch). If I don't use the left indicator switch, although the indicator is already on/blinking, I can't switch it of with the right hand cancel switch. It comes on every two-three seconds and the distance switch (forgotten indicator) won't switch it of as well. I have blown air through the left hand switch, but somehow the fact that I need to use it in order to be able to cancel it gives me the idea the switch is OK. We have been riding the last few days in continous rain, sometimes heavy, so there must be some humidity somewhere...........The switching sequence has me completely puzzled.......Time for the thinking cap!!

Meantime I have replaced the relay for another with the same result. I wonder if it has to do with the wiring of the emergency blinker switch. I'll take the tank off today and have a look..... Weird stuff!

The same thing did happen to me many years ago, also when driving in heavy rain.
But I got away a bit easier, dried out the switch the next day and the problem haven`t occured since.

Have you tried to disconnect the switch assy from the main wiring, to rule the switch assy and it`s wiring out of the problem list?

Inge, not yet as I need to operate the switch to be able to eliminate the signal, which leads me to think that the switch is OK. Need to find a dry spot to take the tank off.

By shorting the blue/white wire in the main wiring connector to ground momentary, substitute the switch function.

If I understand it correct, you`re able cancel it for a couple of seconds when first operate left switch?

My theory is that the switch is shorted to ground in resting position, when operating the switch it`s loosing the ground connection momentary somewhere along the travel and starting a new timer sequence.

Just a thought.

Inge, you were right. I opened the switch and cleaned her out and used lots of G85 to flush and eventually it worked normal again.

It`s nice when the problems being sorted out that easy and cheap
(but often time consuming, when dealing electrical gremlins).
