I've seen many posts here and elsewhere talking about using carb or brake cleaner to check for air leaks. My question is... you are typically checking rubber parts for leaks and I guess I thought that these kinds of solvents would attack rubber and plastic. Is there a particular type to use? Do I need to wipe it off after checking or just let it evaporate?

thanks
Brad

I use a spray of carb cleaner, the flammable kind and it evaporates pretty quickly. Alternatively a small propane or butane blow lamp works well (unlit of course).
