Hello everyone

Name is David. Not entirely new to riding, but havent ridden since I was younger. Huge BMW fan, mostly with cars. Have had numerous E30's and E36's with various modifications. Currently daily driving an E30. Always loved BMW bikes. Originally I got back into bikes when I found an opportunity to trade my iPad (when they were harder to find) for an incomplete 76 Honda CB550K that was in project state. Ive always had an interest in older Honda's so I figured what the hell, and jumped head first in not knowing how to work on a motorcycle really at all. Needless to say, that kick started the obsession. Ive been working on that bike for almost 6 months now. Meanwhile, I got impatient and found this bike on my local Craigslist. :

1985 K100RS with no working odo at 38k. Everything works, or did work. Hehe. Rode it home from nowhereville, TN. Found a really cool old totally restored gas station that was frozen in time. Had to take a pic!

So of course, I get it home and immediately start tearing into it. First up, remove the fairings and everything. I didnt anticipate not being able to use the square headlight, thought it would be on its own mount. Nope, its built into the fairing. Bummer. But man, this thing sure does look good naked! Left the luggage rails in tact because, well, why not. The bags are pretty damn useful and are in awesome shape.

Future plans for it will be new GP style mirrors, better headlight brackets, exhaust, re-do headlight wiring system, and source a single seater seat. Although I've always really loved this bike, sporting the Ducati Sport 1000 rear. Boyoyoyoing!

Well done on your purchase David. I like the B&W pic at the gas station. Having only had my K for a few months I would find it hard to do without the bags. I presume you've found the cafe racer threads on here showing single seat conversions? Welcome to the forum & Safe riding!

Thank you sir. I paid 1800 for it, and it came with a brand new starter and lightened flywheel. Id say I did OK. Smile
I have seen the cafe racer threads, but I dont really want a cafe racer. I have another bike that is getting the cafe treatment at the moment, so this one I'd like to be just a city cruiser, sort of naked type thing. After some research, I think I might give it a ass-lift by converting to the 86+ style rear, so I can use the Corbin Gunfighter bipost seat. Those things look great! Even has the ///M colors stitched in crotchal area! cheers
