Hi all my name is joe and i live in London, im hoping to get myself another BMW soon. I did have an r 1100r a few years ago and now i ride a honda x11. i do miss the BMW and now im looking for a k75 or k100, I went to look at one today but it seemed a bit on the scruffy side shal we say. Im looking for somthing decent so may have to spend some time looking around. anyone who knows of anything good for sale i would be intrested. but for now i would be gretful for any advice on buying a K. regards joe.

Hi Joe welcome from OZ. When I bought my 85 RT I thought it looked pretty good, but have had to do loads of smaller things to get it reliable. Have a look through some posts in restoration section, but basically these things should start first pop, rattle a little bit when cold then settle down to about 950/1000 rev on idle with no uneven sounds coming out. (mine blows smoke if it has been left on the side stand for any time, but they supposedly fixed that in about 86. No harm, just scares the greenies.)
Hope you find something mate
Regards
RT

Welcome to the forum Joe.

Here you will find a lot of post about maintaining a K100.
I would advise you to read the article You just bought a used K100, so what now?. This will give you clues on what to expect.

Cheers,

Bert

Welcome aboard Joe! There are plenty of posts to help get you started and CF's suggested link is an excellent place to start. Also, plenty of guys on the board who have been around the old K-block if you get stuck. Smile

I keep an eye on the English used ads from time to time Joe and there are a few out there. Some good ones appear on this site...www.carandclassic.co.uk/

they tend to be a bit pricier than the average tat but the condition is usually above average too.

Good luck and nearly a new member 177912 .
