This new member sends greetings from Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.
I have just acquired a 1985 K75C. It has travelled over 180,000km and needs restoration work.
I know very little about BMW bikes but learning about them is the thrill of it all.

Looking forward to being part of the forum.

Jeff Dorman

Other bikes:
1982 Yamaha SR185 on the road
1980 Honda CX500 on the road
1954 AJS 350 runs but still in the shed

Greetings, !80,000 K's is nothing for a well maintained K. I've got 180,000 K's on mine and it runs like a top uses no oil between changes and still on most of its original parts. I've had to adjust two valves at 140,000 K's. Lots of forum members in and around Brizzie and lots of help available.
Regards Martin.

Bricks do not like sitting. A spray of oil in the low cylinder can free up the rings which are known to stick when left sitting. Alternatively riding it will also free up stuck rings, it can however take a couple of 1000 K's. The internal and external fuel hose and the fuel pump damper will have deteriorated and they don't like ethanol laced fuel. The fuel hose in the tank must be rated for fuel injection and be submersible.

Electrical connections are also be known to suffer when left especially in damp conditions. It is worthwhile cleaning all the connectors and earths with an electrical cleaner Deoxit is one and can be obtained from Jaycar. The 75's are extremely bullet proof even more so than the K100's but the need to be maintained . Drive shafts need to be lubed and cleaned every rear tyre change as a precaution. If not maintained they can wear out the splines, mine is still fine because it has been maintained.

Any questions that you have can be answered. The brains trust is very good. Anytime you are down in Nort Lakes you are welcome to drop in you have just missed a workshop day.
Regards Martin.
