In 1984 Bike magazine (UK) gave away this RS, part of the prize was the two-tone blue colour scheme. Although I always knew the bike was a prize, I only got a copy of the magazine 2 months ago via e-bay.

In 1985 I bought the bike from the lad who won it (he couldn't afford to insure it after the prize insurance had expired). It had 2000 miles on the clock. This picture is from '85, just before I fitted the fork gaiters.

It has now done just over 90000 miles, but sadly doesn't get much use these days, as 90% of my riding is shared between the outfit and the Vincent.

I bought the belly-pan in '85 and sent it to Dream Machine, asking them to paint it in a style to match their paintwork.

A faded mag, 88KE, and the first picture is a scanned old photograph.

Sorry it's not red, blakey.

Well, initially it was free, so even I wouldn't care what colour it was.

Hang on, yes I would. I could've been brown.

There I said it. Start posting!

Good capture Paul. The blue tents in the backround set it off nicely. May I ask what sort of camera you use?

Hi 88, it's a Samsung WB720 which has a Schneider Kreuznach lens, 14mp............it was half price at Argos earlier this year. The Bike magazine prize K100RS 112350

To be honest, I bought it so that I could get better photos for this forum, replacing my old 5mp Samsung.

Have you ever thought how much the forum has affected your life? The Bike magazine prize K100RS 723598

Yes Dave, it does look low, maybe the belly pan adds to that impression.

Paul.

Paul.

Yes I have....I've just gone and bought myself a 14mp fuji camera for the same reason Rolling Eyes To make matters worse I was trying to engineer a mount so that I could shoot some video of this weekends run to Antrim when a mate came along and made me a present of a HD dashcam blackbox thingy. So now I can do HD movies and still (once I've figured out how to get them on the PC that is). I'm well impressed with your result tho'

I remember reading Bike magazine back in the 80's and seeing the competition with the K100RS with it's unique Dream Machine colour scheme as a prize.

One of my mates owned a K100RS at the time and told me that a BMW K series would be an ideal bike for me - "get one it will be last for over 100,000 miles" he said. I owned a Honda CX650 at the time.

Fast forward to March 1988 and I bought my 1986 K100RT which I still own today and have enjoyed every mile on it.

Paul, Great to see that your K100RS looks as good today as it did in 1984. It couldn't have gone to a better owner.Smile

Bill

Nice color and still in great shape. The Bike magazine prize K100RS 112350
It gives me some ideas for repainting the K100.
The Belly pan changes the look of the bike. It's not really lower (maximum 1" between the oil pan and the belly pan).

Here is the same K75 with and without a belly pan. It doesn't look like the same bike.
