Only recently found out about this forum, had a bit of a look around and it looks good.
I've always had a bike or two since I was 17, but only bought my first BM in 1997, an '86 K100 (naked). My interest is Motorcycles but my hobby is modifying them. I had my K100 for about 8 yrs and did many mods with the ones that made the most difference being the fitting of a K75s fairing and installing R1200c final drive gears. I sold this bike to a mate and purchased the '94 K1100RS which I have always dream't of owning and so the mods began again.
I'm also looking forward to going on some rides with some of the local members.

Stunning K100. Did you have the casings polished or how did you get them that clean. The K1100 is beaut too I really fancy one of them and I missed one close to me a few months ago, same colour too. Welcome to the forum BTW.

Plenty ok K bike support in your area so enjoy a great bunch.

I polished them myself, all you need is a bucket of water, a cake of Pure Sunlight Soap (has animal fats in it) and some 000 grade Steel Wool. Do small sections at a time rinsing off before moving on to the next section. I did this once a month for three months and them about once a year after that. It has to be PURE Sunlight Soap and it comes in a box of 3 or 4 from the supermarket. Throw the cake into the bucket of water to soften it up, rub the steel wool into it, then start rubbing into your alloy, then rinse... easy.
It come up just like the casings were when they were first manufactured. The animal fats in the soap leave a non greasy film on the case that makes water bead up on it like polish on your paintwork. I also used it on smooth alloy, for this I used 0000 grade steel wool and after using it several times, it bought up the alloy like chrome.

If you got the metal on that bike so shiny and bright with only soap and water I am going to buy shares. I always wanted to own a water company.

Blakey, Now let me think about it... No.

I forgot to mention that kitchen gloves should be warn as using the steel wool will wear your skin away while rubbing the alloy.
