What can we do to help?...Seems Cols family have accommodation near the hospital and of course Col is taking a nap which means no visitors for a bit...what about Cols bike is it insured in which case its being well taken care of...but if it is not perhaps we can rescue it before the the family gets hit for storage fees...I have a box trailer and happy carry out a road trip to retrieve the bike and take it back to Orange..Rossco can you find out if this is acceptable from the family...if so are you up for it mate..car trailer and lunch supplied...Very Happy

Cannot think what else we can do at this stage..suffice to say I would like Cols peeps to know we are here for them.

I remember having a conversation with Col. I believe he is insured with Shannons. Best check first as they may want to see the bike first, before being moved......you know certain insurance companies get very tricky at times.

I had thought of the bike, but it was not appropriate to ask.
An offhand comment by Col's wife suggests the bike may be at Bathurst.
No idea on insurance. Would the bike be evidence in any kind of police investigation into the crash?

I will see how the family is doing before I ask about the bike.

I have no idea on the amount of damage. Given Col's injuries it may be a write off.
Still I am sure the parts would be found. Wish we had a few spare for his body.

hopefully Col has underwritten "salvage rites"into his insurance, allows him to keep the bike for his own use, to repair or replace.
Be a shame for someone unlike Col,not being of the K faith to make the decision of the fate of his bike..
Being a single vehicle incident, with only Col involved I should suspect not much effort from the CSI ( Crash Scene Investigators)

I know this is early days but I have been thinking more about Col and his families financial needs.

As far as I know(and some of you guys know him better) he is a truck driver for a living.

As income insurance is too expensive for most of us I was thinking of a Help Col out fund.

We have all donated to great global causes such as the Tsunami in Aceh, Hurricanes in the US and others. Whats so wrong about helping a like minded, very kind hearted member of our K family?

If he is in need in any way, maybe we can take some of the stress off of him and his family.

It might not be much but sometimes a little can go a long way.

Just my thoughts anyway.

I'll guess that establishing a paypal account would be the easiest.............
which also was used for the forum fund.

I have the Paypal address of Jo (if Jo Jones is his wife). Col used it to pay me for the shipping of a car wheel adapter.

We can use the forum Paypal account to collect money and then send it to her.

I just created a new section (For members only - the last section on the forum page-) where I will post the Paypal address of the forum. If you want to send any money, indicate on the subject of your paypal transfer "Col relief fund"
I will keep members updated about the money received and transfer the money to Col's wife. I think we should wait maybe 2 weeks before making a transfer to Col.

Let me know what you think.

Col works for a large mining company which has international holdings, based just out of Orange. He was a "plant" operator, which involves him driving some big machinery. May I suggest that we hasten slowly on this issue as the family may feel uncomfortable with all that is happening at the moment.
The bike is in a secure holding yard organized by the police towing contractor and can only be released with consent of the registered owner (my son in law is a sgt)

His insurance should take care of that if as Ainsjac said he is with Shannons they are a very good mob.
Suncorp who own Shannons have twice towed a write off for me and both times were very good to deal with.

It appears to be largely cosmetic damage...much like its owner...(too soon?) I think it will be yet another restoration for our pages, viewers...

Will see Col tomorrow and take some bike books?...I am not sure what he is going to use to turn the pages....might even sneak in some real food..you know the sugary, salty unhealthy kind...the beer maybe later heeeheeehee.

stay tuned for more photos later....

Did Col do that?

A male patient is lying in bed in the hospital, wearing an oxygen
mask over his mouth and nose. A young student nurse appears and
gives him a partial sponge bath.

"Nurse,"' he mumbles from behind the mask, "are my testicles black?"

Embarrassed, the young nurse replies, "I don't know, Sir. I'm only
here to wash your upper body and feet."

He struggles to ask again, "Nurse, please check for me. Are my
testicles black?"

Concerned that he might elevate his blood pressure and heart rate
from worrying about his testicles, she overcomes her embarrassment and pulls back the covers.
She raises his gown, holds his manhood in one hand and his testicles gently in the other.

She looks very closely and says, "There's nothing wrong with them,
Sir. They look fine."

The man slowly pulls off his oxygen mask, smiles at her, and says
very slowly, "Thank you very much. That was wonderful. Now listen
very, very closely:

Are - my - test - results - back?"

Good to hear this better news.
Anyone seeing Col can tell him I've kept his steak and sausages still on the hotplate, and beer in the fridge, waiting.(not as many beers as there was last week, sorry).
They will be delivered when he makes it back to Orange.

very, very closely:

funny you should tell this particular story as I went to visit today and what a time we had...initially they had moved him again...its like a weird game of where's wally...except all the wally's have gowns on with the buttocks exposed.

So I found him and his merry men in radiology..another CATSCAN?...how many cats have you eaten Col? no cats found but they did find a furr ball...thats another story...a job for "Schticky" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAQjF5RPgbg

So after that fun time we raced back....boy those trolley's go...back to the ward where 3 other gentlemen with various broken bones were awaiting our return...lunch time came and Col showed me his pinned fingers with only one opposable thumb unharmed so I got to feed him like the worlds largest and hungriest toddler....and was he peckish!!!! After we had demolished the cottage pie, potato and pumpkin followed by pureed apple ( wipe the chin much!!! )

drank the juice all these things in record time and then a coffee....almost burst out laughing a number of times when I thought "how am I going to get him on my shoulder to burp him".....this is when a pretty young nurse appeared to assist Col with his "number 2 delivery"..."I thought you lucky bugger"...when she said hold this handing me a litre of urine in a bag....always thought Col could not hold his piss....appears I can...LOL...and off he toddled.

All kidding aside we had a great time for lunch, and he is progressing wonderfully.

Already talking about the "Enterprize" colour scheme.

I also left behind a CD with the Robertson Run footage...with musical accompaniment...a copy for you too Rossco...how do I put it on the net???

If the hospital has a "wet gown" competition, don't take your camera... Shocked
