the rally is less than a month away ,

this year on the 8-9-10 feb 2013

last year the queeenslanders headed south and stayed overnight at Nundle on the friday night

the Peel Hotel ....was a nice ride from there to Dungog , before heading into the hills on the saturday .

from memory we made Dungog about 1.0 pm (wet weather was all about )

are others planning going to the rally ?

the Bank Hotel Dungog is the meeting point generally

flagfall (entry ) is $25.00 this year

includes a badge and a meal voucher

http://www.bmwtcnsw.org/club/

flyer

http://www.bmwtcnsw.org/club/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/KRR-Flyer-With-Watermark-2013.pdf

http://www.bmwtcnsw.org/club/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/KRR-STYLE-MAP.pdf

would be good to catch up with some of the newcastle locals and all

even if its just a meet, eat and a drink durring the afternoon if you had not thought of heading bush .

I'm on roster that weekend, Grrrrrrrr....
If ever you are looking for an alternative location, Gloucester (pub on the roundabout ) is bike friendly and good meals,
and Bretti reserve 32km out of gloucester on Thunderbolts way, is dog friendly ( bellas kind of place ) no tariffs, and great for swimming , this is our campsite twice a year in April and Oct. and also the site for Moto Guzzi rally in Sept. NO LEECHES or Lizards , just browns and red belly blacks leading into summer.
Check them out.

I'm not 100% sure I'll be going yet but things are falling into place well.
If I do go then I will probably be leaving a couple of days earlier, possibly Wednesday.

Soak the gasket in petrol and it will expand and get softer but careful it can expand too much.

Just re-reading the posts, if Charlie is coming through Guyra and wants to stay over, we'd head down on the Saturday. You're welcome to stay over as well...though I realise it's only just down the street from your place. Go down one way and come home the other. I went down Thunderbolts on the Thursday of the long weekend and found the road as rough as guts as usual...artificial foot kept bouncing off the footrest...hate that. Seems easier coming up the hill rather than going down. Anyway...let me know what's happening.. What a Face

You survived Oswald alright, can't see why you would be concerned with Karuah, usually is a wet affair.
take it easy anyway, and enjoy the ride.

It was close to 30C here today, looking good for the KRR tomorrow! That said, I'm going to leave the 7x7 and 5x5 tarps and all the poles and ropes in the trailer, just on the off-chance it does rain Wink (Nothing makes setting up a campsite more cheery in a downpour, than a 7mx7m cover over everything Wink

Hope those of you already on the road are having a good ride. it's only 200km for us, but we're leaving at 9am anyway, as I'm thinking it's going to be a SLOW ride, being my first time ever towing the trailer loaded.. (And no matter how I pack it, I can't get less than 20kg on the towball..)

Seeya's there!

Was a good weekend, though could have done without the broken clutch cable!

Charlie: I think you were behind me at the servo on the way out this morning? I only realised as I pulled out, and then the guys I was riding with were off and away, so I couldn't really turn around to say hi! Next year! Smile

Was nice to hear all the other k's this morning and realise the clunky noises mine make when cold are all normal Very Happy

The trailer went great - didn't really notice it, except when I went to put it on the centre stand! Oh, and at the pump - my newfound 2l/100km saving with the fixed fuel/ignition systems disappeared!

well heres my story of the adventure south

a bleak morning after a long night ...lots of rain as i headed out .

i knew that this rain was coastal and was pleased i was heading inland ....after taking the rise through cunninghams gap (the lowlands around place that prevented rossco and rickg from getting home a weekend or so ago in "the big wet") ..dry weather was a welcome relief

about 400 k south of home a welcome stop off at seaniis hideaway in sunny downtown guyra , a cuppa tea and a good chat

seani couldnt come but i took with me his thoughts

still earlyish in the day i headed further south and my side track off onto the oxley highway ...out of walcha almost due east through some adorable farmland with fabulous vistas of open valleys as i crested the next hill for about 100ks (110 speed limit out there too ...made for good miles covered in short time )

i had been searching for a road i remembered when i was a kid , a road with awesome twistys that seammed to never end ....i found it at last ...

heading out of the farmland and into the mountain descent nice roads closed up to and awsome array of corners , at first good high speed, nice radius bends that quickly closed up for an awesome decent .

about 20 ks in i found a small glenn and shire boundary where the surface changed ....and also the second advisory sighn that brought a smile to my face

looking back

looking forward

a little further down the hill the scenery opened up ...so i got a pic of the type of terain i was following

i made camp at a delightfull pub ....verry country ..at "long flat " a small creekside community ...with a good camping spot "free of charge " cool ....

a good quantity of "grog " relieved the road dryness of the days travels, of about 700k for the day .

next day ....off into the unknown again ....with "Warchope" another 20 ks away, full of twistys again and a southern direction change ....down the mighty staight and well surfaced "Pacific highway"

a detour through the scrub at "Nabiac" had me intending th traverse "the Bucketts Way " to "Gloughcester" but i missed a turn and got into the next valley of farm folks ....30 ks of small dirt access roads leading off up into the hills again .

bugga ....running lateish again

finally my desination at "Dungog " was reached ....Rickg there to welcome me and all the other attendees at the pub .

the road into the bush was a little better this year ....a bit more dirt survived on the surface than last years "washed recently" event . "the Causeway" was but a mere trickle of a stream .

at site ....wow ...there were bikes every where .....i guess the first "dry " rally event in many years attracted one and all .

hot ...wow ...it was boiling in the little valley ....a dip in the creek was a welcome relief ...besides all the leaches and wildlife that surrounds the creekside makeshift camp .

camp made ...a few shots

hmm that rt with trailler .....could it be ...?

ceremonies gathering

the organisers were surprised at the attendance ,,,with far more than expected making the event

a pretty little k75 caught my attention

next day ....as usuall... the queenslanders made a sparrow fart departure ,following a sausage, bacon and egg sandwich for breakfast ...

back on the road ...rick and i headed north ...the gs blokes headed every which way .....into the hills , south ...west... north

the "Thunderbolts Way " (a country road heading north out of gloughchester) ...is always a good challenge ...i loved it ...with twistys for the first 50 or so ks ,,,,and nice well surfaced road "up on top " of them hills ...

we acheived Uralla and a break before heading north up "The New England" highway

a stop off at seaniis was planned again but no phone cantact could be acheived ....surprised when we met him heading south from Guyra ..."Bella" the dog riding shotgun in the sidecar

Northward bound ...a huge rain event surrounded "Tenterfield " so wets back on and on we go

Rick turned off at Stanthorpe and his short run home ....and i continued on for another couple of hours into the fast aproaching night and brissy .....home at last

1700 ks covered by old gerty and still going strong ....

crikey ....what a blast ....you wouldnt be dead for quids huh ?

Great ride report and pics Charlie, we'd expect no less from you at this stage!! Very Happy

It looks like a great campsite and I particularly like the country pub with camping...very civilzed and the signs for curves for the next 45kms are enough to make any brick rider grin Now that's a road we would all enjoy.

Thanks for sharing - makes me look forward to the next Irish eccentrics outing!
