I was wondering how hard would it be to convert a K100RS (88) to a RT?

I imagine throwing a heap of extra plastic in front of you and higher bars...would be real easy......

The obvious thing is the fairing but many small bits. Handlebars are higher si brake line to the steering stem has to be longer the throttle and clutch cables need to be longer. The elect cables on the switches are OK.
Have you considered some higher bars like the K100 naked or K75c, with those the cables are OK. I think some of the brackets are a bit different.
Maybe someone here would want to swap an RT setup and you could do it side by side.

even the bars on a k75c or naked , they wont come back far enough for you to get full lock on the steering before crushing your knuckles on the fairing or worse . it might be nearly managable if those bars had a riser and set back adaptor ... just some thoughts about some measurements ive taken .

the rs fairing is immensly different (narrower and lower ) in width to the rt

I looked at doing it the other way Larrakin, pity about the distance or we could have swapped!

Basically along with all the plastics/bodywork you're looking at front fairing spyder, handlebars and control cables at the very least. you will also need some of the fairing inner/filler parts which will be different and make sure you get all the fastners rubber mounts etc with the RT fairing.

In all honesty you should ride both before deciding which you prefer, then it may be easier to sell and buy an RT/LT. I certainly found that I wouldn't live with the stock RS bars for long runs, at best I would have to change to k75c bars possibly with a riser.

I guess you'd find lots of detail parts different..........may be easier to buy an RT as well as your RS.

I got a LT rear tail section to fit a really nice corbin seat to my rs for my rebuild bolts right on and even uses the rs tail light and I have 1100 throttle bodies so does this mean I get to call it a K100/1100 RST
