Good morning to all,

I am Harry from Cologne, Germany. I own a BMW K 100 RT. I am driving BMW motorcycles since 30 years.

Now I am here to meet other K-friends worldwide.

I cannot support with any technical solutions, but if someone needs a correspondence partner to German BMW I will help, of course.

Furthermore I am a professional tourguide for German motorcycle tours in the region of Rhineland (e.g. Nurburgring, Green Hell, Eifel). If you ever will stay here, let me know, too.

Best,

Harry

Welcome Harry.

You just registered with the perfect site to meet K100 owners from everywhere. We are a growing group of over 400 people scattered all over the world.

Even if you are not able to provide technical solutions (yet) you will learn at lot about the k100. Not everybody is an expert, but we are all helping each others with technical problems.

We appreciate the offer to be a BMW contact in Germany.

Cheers

Bert

The pictures may be a bit over exposed, but the bike looks so clean!
It looks like you polished the engine. Looks nice.

Yes, this bike is very clean and the engine is really polished (the former owner did it). I have this bike since june. The bike already runs 65,000 mls (110,000 k), but it looks and feels like a new one.

I have a complete personal documentation about this bike. The former owner kept an account about every screw he ever bought.

Since I am the owner, it runs 10,000 k (yes, in 2 months Very Happy ). I am very satisfied about this bike. I already drove several BMW; at last a R 1150 RT, but in competition to the K the R comes like a toy (playmobil) without any character.

This bike is a dream !

Hi Harry,
Good to have you on board and congratulations on such a lovely looking bike. Any time you work on it don't forget to treat each electrical contact to a Deoxit cleaning if there is any Achilles heel of these fine bikes it is bad connections due to damp getting in over the yers. Start with the main earths under the fuel tank they really deserve a good clean-up when you have the tank off.
Regards,
K-BIKE

Hi K-Bike,

thanks for the welcome and the advice. I heard about this. Concerning this some of the K 100 were burned off here in Germany.

The K 100 are very nice bikes, but of course, they need always attention and maintenance.

In September I can attend a 7 day "crash course" with a BMW engineer to understand all important facts and points of this special BMW. I think this will be a good and helpful idea.

Regards,

Harry

Harry,

Who is organizing such a crash course? BMW itself or a dealer? A 7 days course seems to be long enough to even learn about advance features and repairs.
You shouldn't miss this opportunity to register for it and if you do, take some notes and share them with us.
I would be interesting to see how a BMW engineer would troubleshoot some of the electrical/electronic related problems. Would he use sophisticated diagnostic tools that only professionals have access to or like us start checking individual components?

Does your engineer propose distant education by Internet too? Question

Bert

Bert,

he is a former engineer (now a pensioner) and unfortunately not proficient in Internet/Mail etc. I think a distant education he will and can not offer.

But I will take a lot of fotos/video during this week and will write a lot of notes for you, of course.

For me he is the "pope of BMW and K 100 models". There was a competition last year: 4 engineers - and everyone got a complete deconstructed R 60/7.

Expected time to assemble the bike was 4 hours. An actual BMW engineer finished in 3.5 hours. "My" engineer needed only 2.3 hours - it was unbelievable. His price: A new BMW car!

A said before: I will make a lot of notes and will take a lot of fotos for you, of course.

Harry

Good on you Harry,
Perhaps we should elevate him (and you for documenting it) into the yet to be established Hall of Fame along with it's only other occupant our very own Crazy Frog - Bert.

Hi Harry and welcome and looking forward to the results from your course.

I had a quick look at your website and of all the things to have an accident with!

At least I only have to worry about road borne cars Very Happy

Phil M

Hi Phil,

thanks for the welcome. What are road borne cars ?

My accident was terrible - but it's far away. Since that time I tumbled down one time (with the R 1150 RT) and that was all Very Happy .

I will actualize my website asap with a lot of fotos from our tours in France, Spain and Luxembourg and to race course Nurburgring (called "Green Hell") in Germany - not with me as a race course driver, only visiting.

And I am lucky about the crash course, because there will be only 1 attendant - me. He will do this course exclusively for me. That gives a lot of time to understand all main facts about my K 100 and to make good fotos and videos for all.

Probably if you all have some important questions you will mail them before and I can ask him and will post it here, too.

Best,

Harry
