I have just booked myself into the Steeplechase enclose at Aintree for the Grand National as the weather forcast is for Sun (9c) . Anyone know where I can park my K100LT near the entrance (Where Melling Road enters the course) or is it all blocked off? Anyone also going? Very Happy

Got a good ride to Aintree past all the queues.
Parking - Police let me into closed residential side road 100yds from entrance.
Spectators (per daughter, pillion passenger) - Men in grey suits. Women in shoes they cannot walk in.
Racing - Did not back any winners (daughter did).
Weather - chilly but sunny and no wind - as good as it gets.
Leaving - As road closed had to push bike for 50 yds till nice policemen in car instructed me to mount up and follow him past all pedestrians and traffic!
Have this theory that british police have a soft spot for K's as they were the first decent bike they were allowed to buy.
Return - Over the Derbyshire Dales (A6) snow still 3ft drifts by side of road at top of hills.
Overall Very Happy Very Happy

I reckon you're right about the Police. I often get knowing and respectful nods from our Gueards when out and about on the K. Sounds like the best way to get to aintree.
