I have been missing with my usual announcement of the rally and now its almost on top of us!

16th-18th September at the Racecourse at Tottenham (NSW, not UK). All welcome, lovely grassy campsites, free coffee/tea 24hrs, hot showers, toilets, the regular outdoor video or movie will be run in the evening after the awards (Longest distance male/female etc) and raffles have been completed.  Brekky on Sunday is part of the entry fee, catering Sat night by the local Lions. And this year we (the forum) will also be remembering RossKKo.

I'll be heading out Friday morning to ride to the site on Friday, leaving from the lower mountains if anyone wants to join us for a ride. Approx 470kms via Mudgee, Dubbo and Narromine

A slight warning, there has been some flooding closing some smaller roads in the region.  All major routes to Tottenham are open, if you are intending to use a less well known detour please check the road conditions first.

As you know we will be scattering RossKKo at the Far Kairn Rally and also passing on the flask with grog inside in order to keep the memory riding to events.

Sandra has given me a bottle of Scotch Whisky that RossKKo recieved as a token of the sincerest thanks for not only the loan of his bike recently but fixed, registered etc

Anyhow I propose to make a toast for absent friends and pass out shot glasses that RossKKo purchased possibly for this purpose....so I hope to see some K Krew at Far Kairn to celebrate and respect our mate.

With the BIG race nearing upon us , and memories of RossKKo on our minds.
 I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a drop in at Bathurst on Sunday , around 1pm . 
Thinking of doing a lap in memory of RossKKo as we return from the Far Kairn.
In 2013 ,enroute to the Far Kairn 30th celebration of the K bike, RossKKo and fellow Krew made a brief stopover at the Bathurst race circuit , taking in a quick lap , and some memorabilia at the Motor Racing Museum . 
He had a grin a mile wide ,  Holdens and K bikes , he was in heaven

I hear there is a camera set up for speedsters , which means we don't have to bother setting our own up , and you are almost guaranteed it will be posted to you . 
So if we get together for a group photo , we can then share the cost . How good is that .

You can then avoid getting caught using a camera whilst riding .........

I have become accustomed to riding in the rain after the RossKKo ride drowning.

Definitely sounds like a RossKKo weekend .
At this stage , KKlompy and I are doing the Mudgee / Dubbo scenic ride on Saturday to get there. 
Maybe a rendezvous at Dubbo before progressing onto Totts might be beneficial . 
We should be in Dubbo around 12noon - 1.00pm if anyone is looking for us .

I had thought it might cause a bit of difficulty meeting up with anyone in Dubbo when Klompy's map route didn't go through Dubbo - just testing us to see if anyone is checking the details I expect.

sorry Gaz , I thought I made an error in loading the route . so I promptly rectified the issue .

Due to rain and some local flooding you should check for any road closures in the area(most closures seem to be from west of Tottenham).  Also the council that runs the racecourse have told us most of the grassy areas at the site have had some flooding and they will move our camping to another area on the site.

Al , I hear the Far Kairn this year has been postponed ? I'm guessing RossKKo has had a part in this .

I just read myself. The rally has been officially postponed till further notice due to the condition of the campsite and no suitable alternate site available.  Watch this space.

I guess that makes the score in regard to weather;

Maybe the Krew can hire ourselves out to drought affected areas as rainmakers - we just invoke the Spirit of Rosskko by planning a ride there in memory of him .......... and down it comes.

Hi all ..I am committed to complete my mission re RossKKo's last ride and perhaps stop the rain in the process...so I am off to Bathurst Saturday to pay my respects and ensuring RossKKo never misses a race or get together at Mt Panorama ever again...

I used to live on Mount Panorama years ago and twice a week would walk the 6.3 km around, catching the sunrise from Skyline.

Since we are all coming from different directions I suggest we meet at the starting grid of Mt Panorama at 12 noon (cue the tune from the good the bad and the ugly)

From here at Windsor / Richmond I will allow 2 1/2 hrs so will be leaving home at 0930 and going straight up bells line of road ( hope its dry cause its fun dry)

I think we all had a big day yesterday. Although I only traveled around 450km, I left fairly early around 7am and didn't get home till after 8pm totally bushed. Gaz and Waz probably traveled the furthest from the Hunter and Woolongong.

Had a slowish trip out of Sydney from inner city to Richmond. Klompy and Grover were already at Lithgow having breakfast so I hightailed it west through the Blue Mountains along the Bells Line. A great road with some really nice sweepers but as a major road, its normally patrolled. With a mix of 80 and 100kph it's still a great ride. At Lithgow I head over to Bowenfels for a coffee at the roadhouse and from there, west to Tarana, O'Connell and on to Bathurst. This is a back road. Narrow in parts, sometimes a little bumpy but has some great curves and very pretty scenery.

I make really good time into Bathurst, refuel and then head through town and up to Mount Panorama Race Track. Regarded as the Home Of Motorsport in Australia for both cars and motorbikes, this is a world class 6.3km track located right on the edge of the city of Bathurst only a few kms from the CBD. Mount Panorama race track is a public road in a residential area.

Just after midday we all head up to the lookout where we remembered our friend RossKKo and had a bit of K-talk as usual, discussing parts swaps and admiring each others machines.

After a spot of lunch at the Mount Panorama Cafe we all head back home. Grover, Klompy and myself head towards Katoomba via O'Connell, Tarana and Lithgow making a stop on the dam wall at Lake Lyle.

We join the Great Western Highway at Lithgow for the long trek into Sydney but make a short stop in Katoomba for a few pics. Smurfette, Sweet Thing and Klompy's K100RS at Eagle Hawk Lookout with the Three Sisters in the background.

From here the plan was to ride right into the city for Bike Night at Harry's Cafe de Wheels in Woolloomooloo. We had a Knice ride down the hill into Sydney and onto the M4. Traffic became very heavy from Parramatta and was pretty much bumper to bumper for the next hour as we made our way thru the city and out the other side to Harry's. We were all glad to finally pull in and park the bikes.

For over half an hour we were the only ones there but then a handfull of others turned up. A bit different to Bike Night at Newcastle Harry's where about 40 or 50 bikes make a show.

After pies and chili hot dogs and some chat with the locals we head off. My digs were just a few blocks away but Klompy and Ed had a good hour or more back to Richmond.

It was a good day on the K-Bikes. A great ride and excellent Kompany. It was great to catch up with everyone on Mount P and to ride home with those other two K-Nuts. A fitting way to farewell RossKKo.

Yet another excellent K together Thanks Nigel for the great photos...I may borrow them to show non forum folk what we got up to on the weekend..I of course got to play with my K1100 today to see why I had no oil pressure below 1200rpm....oK at the risk of being the Klown of the week this is what I found.

• Did not find a filter removal tool attached to the filter
  I had installed a new RYCO 418 filter
  I had installed 15 w 40 synthetic
  I dumped the oil and put dino 20 w50
  still no good
  tried to remove the filter
  butchered the filter still would not pull
  unbolted and dropped the sump
  Found the problem when I finally got the filter out
  did you know that some times the old oil filter leaves an o ring behind which when you screw a new filter and o ring onto not only bleeds pressure off but makes it impossible to spin off easily
  

ok bring the accolades people...now to see why my clutch is slipping ...thank god for the old 84RS which continues to be the most reliable bike ever.

I was committed to the weekend away at Moonan Flat, on the Scone - Gloucester road. On the way home this morning at about 09:00 I passed a red K bike going the other way, towards Gloucester. Was that any of you out there??

Don't feel bad Klompy - I learned that lesson when changing the oil and filter on my Triton ute which has made me very aware of that problem. I can assure you that cleaning up around my garage and under the bonnet of the ute took longer than you would have taken to remove the K sump.

Good day yesterday. I got home about 6:30pm for a round trip day of 650 kms.

BTW I love that picture of the 3 RS Ks together.

Hey Uli. Wasn't me but I have seen a couple of other red Ks around Newcastle Hamilton area over the past year. One a K100RT in metalic red or possibly Baja Red. I've seen him a couple of times in that area. Another guy I saw recently was on a K1100RS same as mine but a different red. I think it may have been custom paint.

KKlompy , I'm wondering when a white K will be appearing in that Kave of yours ? 
Some time on Sunday was spent replacing the headlight globe , of which mr K obliged in parts . thanks mate . Boomerang globe heading your way .
I have to say the RS fitment is a little easier to access, though still awkward .
It wasd suggested I looked somewhat Konstipated . I'll leave it to you to decide.

They don't always drop pressure at low revs. My K100 kept it and it was only when I removed the filter I saw that there was 2 O-rings still there.
Sometimes I wish that I had bought a lotto ticket instead of using up all the good luck on a bike or car.

Well the weekend is finally here! At this stage I still cant say whether I'll be there or not. Two dodgy shoulders, a sore left ankle and ischial bursitis in both hips mean I go from functioning reasonably OK to a virtual cripple on a day to day basis. Woke up bad, but I'm OK now. I'm not certain if a long sidecar ride will help or hinder (I suspect help actually). and travelling in the car is MUCH worse so thats not an option.

I'm thinking rest this weekend instead might be the smarter/safer thing to do.

Marie will decide in the morning, she's just got the 1150R back and is keen for a ride, this rain isnt motivating though.

I went, weather was good.  Less numbers than usual but we expected that.  Weather was great. A bit of excitement on Sat morning when a Major Mitchell Cockatoo mad a connection on the power lines between his beak and one foot.  Took the power out for the showgrounds.  Cue comments: He's an ex-Parrot!

Still had a good time, though my hips didnt.  Really struggled sleeping on the ground on Friday night, bloody hard to get up.

Quite sore (hips, knees, shoulders, I'm just knackered) now after the ride home. Will try the comfort seat on the sidecar instead of the current low seat which has always been good to me.  Vic sidecar rallyi in 3 weeks time now in big doubt.
