Hi All, I just sold my K 1200GT a few weeks ago,......thinking I was taking a break from riding for a while. Well, a few days ago, I saw a somewhat unattractive but solid K75 for sale in my neighborhood for $1000. Ugly orange metallic, and an aftermarket inline fuel pump and filter hanging on the left side of the engine. But, it started immediately and came with a Staintune and clean system cases. I figured the system cases and Staintune were worth $3-500 by them selves,.......so thought it would be hard to get hurt on the deal.

I've had a number of K1200RS bikes over the last 10-12 years and about a year ago came on a 2003 KGT,...a bike I had been on the look out for for many years as I always felt a bit too stretched out on a K1200RS.

A month ago, I decided it was time to sell the GT, I had ridden it once or twice this year. Not enough to justify lost space in the garage and insurance, registration, and inspection expenses, not to mention eventual battery, tires, and maintenance etc.

So, I sold the GT. Less than a week later, I saw a K75 in my community for sale, and had to go look, I had read countless reviews of the K75 over the years,....most saying it was smoother than a K100. Hmmmmm, Had to check it out. Well, I doubt its as smooth as any of my K1200 bikes,.....but it does OK. Of course, nearly half the engine size, and nearly half the power, but, in its current naked mode (took the windshield off) I feel like I am moving along pretty good at 60 or 70.

So, I'm contemplating a special K style build like Larry Romestant's Creme colored "Beauty", with the navy saddle, or his dark gray with tan saddle bike. I've also considered doing a cafe build.

unknown which direction I will end up going with this bike,........but I can tell you, it's just too ugly and worn looking to leave it alone. Stay tuned,....and,.....of course I will have my share of questions as I sort through this bike.

Hi there Brian welcome to the forum. Looks like a long love affair with K bikes. The K75 is every bit as smooth as a K1200 and supprisingly nimble.

Hi Brian welcome to the forum, can't go wrong with that 75 as you said the cases etc are worth it.

Larry certainly does nice work although Beauty is not my cup of tea, I'd rather have a "real" /2 !

Plenty of cafe 'd ks here to get ideas from but bear in mind the real beauty of these bikes is in the

riding of them. Can't see the style, colour etc from the saddle so put a fuel pump in the tank, plenty of cheap

options if you search here, then ride the wheels off her, then personalize to your taste.

Good luck and don't forget to ask questions, there is only one kind of dumb one.

Gordo

The fuel pump is interesting. I read here that a fuel pump for a Peugeot 205gti will suit. Found brand new on eBay for €60 including postage for an OEM. BMW one quoted to me was over €200. I expect some minor differences but looks like they are nominal. In line in tank pumps!!.

The posts here will give you everything you need. Enjoy the K, for the money you wont go wrong.

I'll contact the prior owner who put the external in-line pump on and see if he remembers what it is.

My advice is to go back to the internal pump if at all possible. Replacement pumps are very easily obtained and for around $50-$60 to get a good one.
If you need any other internal fittings like the holder and vibration damper EME is a good starting place.

The one to use is a 37mm pump with a foam adapter  Ebay is also a good picking ground.
