I just paid $3.99 for an Italian made tail lamp for my 1995 BMW K75RT. Looking at it I got the impression that an American standard 12 volt, 10 watt lamp would fit. It does.

Use a GE 89 which is a common tail lamp for U.S. cars. Sells for about half the price of the import.

I have found that with the stop and tail lamps you need to use a good quality lamp as the cheap ones that you find in the service (gas) stations are prone to early failure in particular the small tail light lamp.
