I have retrofit factory heated grips on my K75RT-P. Last winter I noticed that the throttle side grip was not heating. I assumed that wear due to it be throttle side had damaged the grip. A couple of months ago I replaced, and upgraded, my alternator to a 50A version. Today was especially cold -8C with wind so I switched on the grips thinking that at least my clutch hand would be warm. Imagine my surprise when both hands were toasty.

My question is this. If my old alternator was putting out less volts than it was supposed to would that cause one grip (specifically the throttle one) to not heat up. I cannot read electrical schematics but the two on this link( https://www.k100-forum.com/t1137-need-confirmatino-of-wiring-for-heated-grips ) would seem to suggest that the grips are wired in parallel as opposed to wired in series. Am I correct? Would a new alternator would solve the problem? Or is there a faulty connection somewhere else that has "fixed" itself?

I cant see why a change in alternator would make it work, I would be looking for an intermittent open circuit in the right grip.

Recently resolved problem with my throttle side HRG. Motoworks flogged me a used but working "boxer" grip, which was stripped and went into the existing grip. k100 versions were o/s,.... problem solved for £27

Just remembered...mine had dodgy connections - my mechanic had to solder the connections to the loom , and remove the connectors. I do wonder if that was the original fault??!
