Can someone in a less wintery location make a video of how exactly the ABS works.  I've read it explained and I'm still somewhat confused about it.  Why does the bike have a switch to shut it off?  and why does the hazard light flash?  a quick video of the proper sequence of events that should happen when it works properly would be fantastic.

Thanks if you can help.

No video required.

The switch does not turn it off. (On K bikes.)  The switch is used for resetting it or from keeping the light from flashing for a while if you're riding with it in fault mode. (In fault mode you still have normal brakes, just without ABS.)

Flashing:

When you start the bike the ABS control unit tests all of its components:
- Both modulators
- Both sensors
- The control unit itself.

The reason that it remains flashing until you start moving is that it cannot test the sensors until it receives a stream of pulses from each sensor as the teeth of the ABS ring rotate past each sensor.  This does not happen until the bike is moving. Once you're moving it can complete its initialization process and if everything is working properly then the flashing lights go out. If they keep flashing then one or more components is faulty and your bike does not have ABS, just normal braking.

Very nice video duck, I enjoyed watching it.

Marty, the ABS will also fault if the battery is disconnected, and will need to be reset.  And, the ABS sensor distance to the ABS ring needs to be correct, else the ABS will fault.
