Hello from sunny Seattle.  My first BMW is the Red 1990 K75 (low seat) that you see in my avatar.  Bought it from Bill Buckingham at Buckingham's BMW in Seattle, while on my lunch break.  In Seattle style, only have 30K miles on this baby and it has been a "Swiss watch" since day one.  I picked up the '07 K1200GT in '07 and the '72 R75/5 in 2008.  The K75 has been old faithful and is my rainy day driver; the K12 is the sunny day driver and the R75 is for when I want to be in my one-man parade.

Cheers

Buckingham BMW?  That's where I took my first K ride on red demo K75S back in 86 or 87 and what started my love of Ks.

Do you still have the Buckingham license plate frame on it?

I do still have it, though I put high reflective tape over the Buckingham portion (no offense to Bill) and kept the "Seattle" portion showing.  That was a nice little dealership next to Greenlake.

Sean.

Only my parents or the police call me "Robert."  I did start a crackpot religion, but they would not have me as a member.  Though I do not question their judge of character.

Keep up the writing, because I love that phrase about being in a one-man parade.  I think that kind of sums up riding a bike for me.

Thank you for the welcome and encouragement guys, I will do my best.  That faring is great, is that stock BMW or a “stock cop” faring?  In either case, you are a one-man parade on that mount.  Be sure to have the right wave, what we refer to in ‘merica as the “Queen’s wave”.

Cheers

Welcome. We still see Bill Buckingham (not the original, but one of the early BMW motorbike purveyors in Seattle) about once in a while. He looks pretty good, always with a smile, and says he's doing alright. He stops in for a yarn and to pick up the odd R90S or /6 part now and again. He appreciates those who know and appreciate BMW's earlier models, and earlier days. He has often got a story about the old Greenlake location and remembers fondly the special R bikes and K turbos he had a had in, and reminisces about the quirkiness of his customers...he must be talking 'bout hisveryownself a bit there, too.

Thank you for the update.  As I recall, his daughter Gina went to work at the new dealership.  Per the K100 turbos, I remember Bill pointing out K100T in for service that Seattle Seahawks, Brian Bosworth had just purchased.  The Bos's career as a Hawk was short and I have often wondered if he took the K100T to Hollywood.

A family friend was working in the South Sound shop so I bought my 2007 K1200GT down there. The color I wanted was in Seattle and while we where discussing logistics; Ann and Keith walked into the dealership, Keith made a call and the bike arrived in just over an hour in the van.  Not long later, I rode home (back to Seattle) via HWY 99, in a torrential downpour.  So much for keeping it clean.

Regards,

Scott

Thanks CF, great photo.  Seeing that you hail from the Maritimes, I have it on my bucket list to ride to Seattle through BC to Labrador, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia. I understand it is no small endeavor.
