after recent events i have taken upon a co-ordination of a contact numbers database

for the australian , new zealand and oceania folks

in most cases we have exchanged phone numbers as we have met

but this isnt by any means adequate for emergency information

i recomend that if you are going to a meet with other folks

and travelling alone for any or part of the trip, that you register.

so ...if the rare chance that something does happen ,

there is a way to contact someone .

i also recommend using sms to announce your departure

to the person - contact you intend to meet, so that travel times

can be predicted / aware . as a few locals round here, do already.

also use sms if you find a holdup somewhere ,

or if you are not comming after all ...plans changed

clarification is always a good practice .

this cannot be used as a lookup, phone contact service

the intention is for only in emergencies . ie lost , injured , etc

far better to talk amongst your mates , your family etc so everyone knows whats going on ....leave a list on the fridge .......where your going, who your meeting ...and contacts phone numbers........yes ?

great effort so far guys ....have 8 - 10 full contact details for those active members that participate in the rides around here

there is more that can be acheived guys

Just revisiting this topic as it is probably one of the most important topics on the forum.

I have recently taken to gmail for my contacts.
If you have an android phone it is a simple matter to sync your phone contacts with your online gmail account.
Update one and it updates the other.

After our recent wisemans ferry meet it reminded me to post again here.
Grover K sent me his phone number, his home number and his wife's number as an emergency number.
Go to gmail, open contacts, type in the numbers, give them some meaning and there it is instantly updated to your phone.
It is a little harder for iphones but then you would expect that.
Screen shot is a bit crap but you get the idea.

Paper and pencil work when your phone falls over.

Yes, old school does work, but I bet you find more people with an internet connection than have mobile reception.
A synced gmail account will let you have the contact details of anyone on your phone anywhere there is an internet connection.
If they have an internet connection they have a working phone.

we thought we had lost Floyd ... but rick has saved the day with a phone call received just now
found in Kyogle with more breakages to his beast, I guess delaying him somewhat ....bush tracks and no phone reception also I suspect

according to rick  he was supposed to arrive at his place yesterday afternoon ....not seen or heard from till Saturday am   , just after a search was just about being called for .

I only had his real name and past address details

im going to make an entry for him with contact details gained from phone calls etc with other members (rick et all  ) so if you have contact details for  Floyd   can you email or pm me them ?

Just heard from him much to my relief and he left the Tomorrow of the PM. But I would rather start a search and find all is OK than say lets wait till tomorrow and find out that all was not OK and someone needed help.

But I'm gonna chase him round the paddock with a big stick, mind I have no chance of catching him.
