The term "snowflake" is used on the wheels on the boxers that was on the
market before the K, the early K wheels is called Y-spoke.

If you feel the pulsing trough the brake lever it's the brake discs that need
to be checked if they are true.

Have you checked the mounting surface at disc hubs and at the wheel?

To get pulsing at the brake lever the disc(s) must move sideways relative
to the calipper.........a wheel that have bit of runout would not cause that.

It could maybe be felt in the handlebar when braking, but not at the brake lever.

I think it would be a idea to measure the discs for runout first.

Just trying to help, so you don't buy parts you really don't need.

What he said.  Pulsing brakes are usually caused by "warped" rotors.  Bent wheels usually cause wobble at speed.

Thanks guys,
The disc hubs are clean , this problem was present with the old discs too. which is why i though it may be the wheel itself. The brakes are very grabby with the HH pads, especially at low speeds. High speed braking is smoother. I intend to replace the master cylinder and hoses during the winter . I have overhauled the calipers.
This is the first time i have experienced grabby brakes on a bike.
Would trying a new set of pads be worthwhile? The discs are EBC floaters with only 3k on them but I will check them .
Bob

ABS euqipped bike? Some have reported pulsing brakes when bike has been close to stopping......
and it have been concluded that the reason was incorrect sensor/toothwheel opening.

Thanks Inge, my bike has ABS, and the effect is only at very low speed when coming to a dead stop. There is no hint of it if the brakes are applied at speed. My ABS system shows no fault , could an incorrect air gap cause this without throwing a fault in the system? It does seem as though the lever is being pushed back , but then a badly warped disc would do this also.
I may check my air gap .
Bob

If I remember correct, others who had this problem didn't report any fault code.

I would guess it's in a dark zone close to the widest gap...and is affecting the ABS,
but not bad enough to throw a fault code.
