G'day All, Had a mental relapse last Friday and bought a 1986 K100RS which will be delivered next Friday.It is naked and that's the way it will stay. Plan is to renovate,repaint,repair and redo anything that needs doing.It's a bit of a rat at the moment but it's in daily use and registerted until December.Photos will follow eventually.

Good move Tom was it originally a naked or has it been got to. There were not that many naked K around after the faired models came out. I remember a work colleague where I was once had an 84 naked and I thought it would be a good bike to own but having the Kawasaki z1300 was enough to keep on the road.

G'day Rick, Thanks for reply.I don't think it originally was a naked because the PO mentioned that he will the original ??? fairing for sale on ebay (don't know when).
It has a sort of bikini fairing and roung headlight affixed (not very well).Will put up some photos when bike arrives on Friday. Cheers Tom

What did you pay?

I was going to offer $1000 and ride it to the scrapheap next month.

Good on you Tom. The only thing better than owning a K bike is owning more than one.
There's more and more naked versions getting around in the last few years and I for one really like them. It's good therapy working on them too.

Look forward to seeing photos.

Well done Tom, K pox is really rife now and sometimes the only cure is to wet your appetite. If you get it looking 1/2 as good as your K75 it'll be top bike.

Rossko must be one hell of a negotiator if he could have got you that for less than $1400.

Maybe I should have got him to do my most recent deal instead of JUST asking him to borrow a trailer an collect / store a $2000 bike for someone that he had never met. Needless to say, I hope to meet him soon (and his lenient wife!)

This project could be a case of having bitten off more than one can chew. But a project other than house and yard keeping is needed at the moment. G'day All,the beast arrived yesterday and is now sitting in the shed ready to be attacked.The plan of attack is:- Replace/repair instrument cluster,set up headlight and cluster the same as Rosskos,remove and paint all things paintable i.e. mudguards,tank,side panels,and generally clean and tidy up.
The thing runs quite well,no smoke or rattles. Gearbox will need to be looked at as there is a problem withe 2nd gear. So will be spending a lot more time in the shed. Having trouble uploading a photo.Maybe later. Cheers Tom

Gday All, For the life of me, cannot get a photo up. So far have taken off the bits to be painted, front guard,tank,side panels and rear cowl. The wiring is a shocker, many cuts and joins etc. so have bought a complete replacement harness. The main issue is the instrument cluster. These parts don't work:- BMU, speedo,clock and GPI ( the LCD is busted).
When the replacement loom is fitted to the 86 K100RS, will see if any more bits in the instrument cluster come alive.
I guess if cluster is not able to be repaired, a digital cluster will need to be fitted.

I just took delivery of spare box from Rick G - came complete with GPI. Should test before end of weekend - if it works you can have my old one (was functioning even with the old box grinding like you wouldn't believe). G'day All, spent yesterday afternoon in the shed and removed fairing,tank,seat,rear cowl and top box,headlight.Sofar so good except front master cylinder leaks and odd battery and overflow bottle is not being held down. Today will remove front guard and change radiator collant.Here is a photo.
