Intoductory hello. I have not long bought a 1997 K1100LT with Wessex sidecar attached – what with fuel injection, water-cooling, and ABS brakes it seems very complicated beside some previous bikes I’ve owned…..so no doubt I’ll be posting lots of Qs over the coming weeks months years.

I’m also Secretary of the BMW Club Sidecar Register so I’d better take advantage of this 1st post to say “welcome, please join the BMW Club and the Sidecar Register” to any K owners out there who have a sidecar attached !

I was ‘pointed in the direction’ of this Forum by Sidecar Paul – so thanks to him for that. And yes it is raining in West Cumbria this evening.

Hi and welcome.

I read the first line and said...must mention Sidecar Paul to you.....then read further.....

The K may seem complicated at first but you will find from here they are very good to work with and are proving to be very reliable machines once basic maintenance s kept up to date. What does happen is on acquiring one it becomes necessary to do some catch up on maintenance that hasn't been done. After that all is usually good. Everyone is extremely helpful and knowledgeable so never be afraid to ask a question even if you think its small. It may not be and someone will always have a good answer for you. Check out the home page [portal] on what to do if you have just bought a K...

We know SidecarPaul travels a lot and camps out most weekends. If you feel venturesome you will be very welcome over this part of the world too, if you have any plans let us know and we will organise a meet up somewhere.
