Hi Guys,
Just a quick intro I've been meaning to get to over the past while; I have a moment and it's slow here at work on Saturday, so I thought I'd do it now

I'm here in 'ol TO now, after spending a few years on the wet coast (Vancouver), doing the snowboard/mountain bike thing in the 90s. Rode motorcycles all the way through it, but never a BMW, despite having spent a couple of seasons in Germany/Austria over those years. I toured through Europe 3 times and saw plenty of them, but never rode one until last year.
How did that happen you ask? Well, after six months in Japan, I had thought I was done with motorized transport (don't ask...), but upon returning to Toronto and discovering that a friend in the bicycle industry had a 1968 BSA he was using as spare shop stool/tool stand (I'm not kidding...), I got pulled back into the bike world and bought both a Honda and BMW to fix up and ride.
The beemer in question - a blue 1985 2 Valve K100RS - came from a nice fellow who had to make space in his garage and, sadly, needed to get rid of the old girl. I picked her up in 2014 and rode most of the year until last October, when the wiring harness fried (L combination switch, main harness portions) and ended my season. I got a replacement harness on ebay and later, a parts bike ('87) from a guy up near Barrie, ON, who got it from a guy for the same reason for his RT.
As it stands, I've got 1.5 K100 bikes to play with over the winter and, since I've been riding the Honda all this year (still commuting with it), the K-bike is definitely the project. I'm hoping I can solve some problems with your help and be riding in the Spring. I'm not new to wrenching, but fuel injected bikes are new to me, as my last bike was a 2000 Kawasaki Ninja, which I toured on and sold in Germany... ah, the irony.
I went to an event called Mods/Rockers in September here in Toronto with a group of Honda CX'ers. There I met a guy who had a K100 with a small toy monkey in the fairing... The fellow who had this bike was older and smoked a lot - the bike itself was a faded, candy-apple red, K, fully-faired. He was one of two K100 guys at the event; the other guy you can see in this video with a cafe'd K at ~3:18, I think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHV50LOPmp0 Didn't meet the second guy, but the bike is pretty neat.
Anyhow, it was a fun ride/event, followed by
and a variety of distractions at the Duke, but I sure wish there were more Brickers around to talk to, as I had questions...many questions...
So there you go, fellow Klotzenfahrer - a bit about me. Yes, I also speak German. Who says snowboarding isn't useful?
Time to get back to work.
