So, what coolant to use? Any quality or does master BMW say only one or it'll go thermo nuclear? Since I am a BMW car guy and they have a closed system that needs to be burped, is the k bike same? How about special instructions on this if it is the way?

I have always used the green glycol. There are no real special instructions but I leave it on the side stand then as it gets full squeeze the hose so that any air comes out then when nothing more will come put the cap on and fill the overflow container to the full mark and keep an eye on it for the next few rides and top up if needed.
I have never had trouble with air pockets unlike the E36 6cyl I had that had to be burped very carefully.

Yes, my E28, E9 and E3s are all very prone to being burped perfectly or they'll run hot. Good to hear the K isn't the same!

agree with rick ....pretty easy to do

but be aware about the cap seals

if the inner one doesn't seal properly ...strange things happen during operation and city street travelling ...and climbing hills

I found a suitable ring seal replacement  that solved an overheat suspected issue of emptying the reservoir and steam up the inside leg at moderate temperatures ...with fan to come on type riding events

good luck
