Hi all,

I have just stripped my K100 RT in the process of building a cafe racer.

Sent all the engine covers away for powder coat and set about the rebuild.

During the process I removed and replaced the crank sensor assembly.
now when i try to start the engine it doesnt start and i get a back fire like the timing is out.

I took pics of the sensor plate before I stripped, so I know I can be too far out, but could I be 180 deg out? the sensor plate only has 2 cutouts so could it be firing 180 deg out to the valve timing?

Thanks in advance

Managed to solve this one after a lot of thought.

After study I couldnt see how the timing could be 180 deg out by crank sensor.

But I had managed to switch the LT wires on the coils so I suspect the coils were firing out of sync there. Once I swapped those all was good and fires first push of the button.

Good one Andy. More often than not its just something simple. ignition issue 112350

A good practice with the timing sensor plate is to scribe a mark across the edge before you take it out. Can'tgo wrong then.

Cheers

Yes I always take a couple of pics on my phone before I strip anything down.

Its a good reference point for a later problem.

Always find this forum a great place to solve problems as well  Smile
