maybe the switch is toast or just needs cleaning ?

wont be the first that we have seen go west

but possibly there is a slight adjustment issue  with the cable - or throttle bar set screw

I guess in time that will be sorted ...after a bit of a tune up

the service manuals are available right here in the forum

just look for the downloads section ....prerequisites are number of posts ...and the magic password

good luck

Good progress. I can't believe the state of the fuel pump rubber. I've seen pictures of them before but it never ceases to amaze me.

Try soaking the old pump in vinegar for a week or two. Sometimes soaking and applying 12v briefly then alternating the + & -  can break them free. If it has signs of life and it looks like it is trying to move either resoak or you can up the voltage very briefly to 18v and try alternating the connections. Always good to have a spare.
Regards Martin.

Why not just make a complete new wiring loom? You don't have to use the original BMW-type block connectors (Molex will do) and if you've got this far with modifying the loom, then you'll know exactly what you have to replicate it to fit the bike. The specialist terminals for the FICU and ICU are widely available.

Good on you to coming back to this. Far too many end up in the skip.

Hmmm. I'm not a fan of that stuff - I use PVC sheathing and plan my wiring looms so that where the wiring branches off, it goes into a smaller diameter tube etc. etc.. No tape anywhere and if properly planned, no exposed wires until they meet the connector. One of the reasons I don't like tape is that if you do make a booboo it's very difficult to un-booboo it. Secondly, taping wires tightly together can lead to heat buildup which is not something you really want.

gasket for the hall sensor!
Next time you need one (and you will - it's cork and it will disintegrate when you take the cover off) make one from 1.5mm or 2mm rubber sheet instead. Put the cover on the sheet and lean on it to indent the shape, then cut it out. A 6mm hole punch is helpful to -ahem!- punch out the screw holes. You don't have to make a perfect internal shape where the screw holes are either as it's only wires running underneath.
