Replacing a leaky fuel line and curious what company it is attached to? Should I replace it or flush it while I’m in here? Or leave it alone?Replacing a leaky fuel line and curious what company it is attached to 725f6610

Replacing a leaky fuel line and curious what company it is attached to 314114 This is behind the air filter housing and the other end runs to the bottom of the tank. Maybe it’s a fuel sending unit?

Also I’m not sure how to remove the clamp that’s holding the hose on. It looks like this:Replacing a leaky fuel line and curious what company it is attached to E6ff7710

Mike the object is the fuel pressure regulator sometimes referred to as the FPR. The clamps are called Oetiker clamps and there is a special tool required to fit them, although nail pincher can be substituted with care. They are supposed to be a one shot affair, you can replace them with EFI rated hose clips preferably not the worm drive type. You can either open them up with an appropriate sized flat bladed screw driver or cut them off with side cutters using care. The hose covered with the spring is the vacuum control line which controls the FPR. One of the hoses is the supply line which comes from the fuel rail. The other preformed line is the fuel return line back to the tank. Care has to be taken if you replace the lines as not to kink them or restrict them, especially the fuel return line. I have just experienced a few problems running a non OEM line it kept on collapsing at the bend were it went into the tank. I ended up having to install a spring over this bend, you can still buy the preformed line off BMW at a semi reasonable price in the US about $25.00 US about $50.00 AU. If the lines are hard or cracked it would be advisable to replace them.
Regards Martin.

You have three different fuel lines. The FPR in the photo, one line is to the fuel tank, the other travels back to the rear of the injector rail. There is a third fuel line between the front of the injector rail and the fuel tank. Replace all three and use the clips from the R series bikes, these can be screwed on and off with a regular screwdriver. They are proper clips for fuel injected lines and you need 6 of them. Make the front lines from the tank about 1 1/2" longer and you won't be disconnecting them to get the electrical box or coolant refill cap.

For the sake of it I use OEM line. If you use OEM line rated for use in petrol you can use the left over bits to replace the fuel line inside the tank. Note that the outside tank line is only rated for petrol internally, it is NOT rated or suitable for IMMERSION in petrol and cannot be used inside the tank. But the line for inside that CAN be used outside it. You need 2 more clips for that too.

The line which is made for use inside the tank, should stay inside the tank.
This hose have nitrile rubber both on the inside and outside.
Nitrile rubber have low resistance to ozone, oxygen and sunlight.
