There used to be some pictures floating around of someone's K75 that caught fire in Europe somewhere and "burned to the ground."  Very sad pictures indeed.

Anybody have any of those?

Pierlucio Tinazzi - worked on the Italian side of the Mont Blanc tunnel and lost his life and his K75 in the inferno in 1999. The picture of the bike is almost unrecognisable. RIP

No, that's not it.  (That's a pretty awful story though.)

It was someone touring somewhere in Europe when the K75 caught fire while riding.  The picture is what was left - all burned up with melted plastics and such.

I think it happened back in the 90s but I saw pics on a BMW or K bike forum somewhere several years ago.

Boy, that sucks. Looks like the result of a crash though.  The one I saw and am looking for was a bike that spontaneously combusted (maybe a heated grip short?) and burned standing up.
