Hello, I'm looking at a pair of engine crash bars that came off of a 1986 standard K75. want to fit them to my 1992 K75 standard. Is this a straight forward fit? Also there are some rear crash bars off a police K75. Wondering if they would work with standard size panniers. They are all for sale on Ebay. Thank you.

The '86 to '92 bar swap should work. The attached list of mounting parts (also including the bars themselves) is from the MAX BMW parts fiche.

The rear guards are for police Ks and will only protect city cases.  Will work with standard cases but the cases will hit the ground first.

It's also important to note that the engine guards are rubber mounted and will tear right off if you have a getoff with any speed involved.  They're really only for parking lot drops.  (If they were hard-mounted then they'd break the oil sump apart which makes it much harder to get home after a spill.)

Hey Lefthander,

Assuming you're looking for protection in case of a spill, try these:

http://www.bskspeedworks.co.uk/k-engine-case-covers.html

I plopped them onto my K75 in the Seattle, WA area, and they are still there on my engine seven thousand miles later :-)  They came off once, the left one within 300 miles and the right one, at speed about one thousand miles later.  I attributed both sudden departures to the really skimpy narrow strips of 2-sided tape which secured them as provided by BSK Speedworks.  I rescued them both off the roadside, re-glued them on with a carpet of 3M Extreme 2-sided tape, and they've stuck faithfully on my engine cases for at least 6,000 miles and across the U.S.

Since your bike is a K75 Standard, there is no fancy K75S-type fairing to protect... so these engine sliders might be just the cat's meow for you.

They also look really good, almost OEM in their design.  BLUF: yes, I would buy these case sliders again.

Hope this helps.
