My clutch cabke broke on my new (to me) k100 - need some input from the crew here;

1) Best/Lowest Price to buy a new clutch cable gor my ‘85 k100rs?

2) What kind of lube should i use on either end of the cable?

3) Any recomendations on a good video to show me how to do this right?

Aporeciate you all!

Thomas

Motorworks - £12. And I use lithium grease, about £3 a tube which has lasted over a couple of years so far.

Which end did it break at?

The easiest way to thread the new clutch cable is to pull it through with the old one.  I usually tie a long piece of wire to the old cable, pull that through and then use the wire to pull the new cable though.  (Or a piece of strong string.) A little wiggling and pulling back and forth while doing this usually helps.

Here's the BMW instructions on how to adjust the clutch cable:

Clutch Cable K_Bike_Clutch_Adjust

And as I showed you during the spline lube try to keep the clutch arm from traveling too far out in order to keep the $48 clutch boot from tearing.

Got a pic of how it's attached to your aftermarket controls?
