Hey everyone , I’m having an issue with my K100RS . As soon as I connect the battery the bike cranks over and keeps cranking until I disconnect it. I know there can be issues like this when the bike sits for a while and it has. I’m thinking relay or starter stuck in engaged position. After reading many discussions on here I knew this was the place to ask for help. I’m still learning about BMW bikes . Always do my own work and this is the first BMW I’ve owned. Any info greatly appreciated . Thanks for reading. Todd

Two possibilities:

1. If the ignition is turned on, then the starter button could be permanently pushed in
2. If the ignition is on or off and it happens, the starter relay is probably toast.
- Remove the fuel tank to expose the relay box
- The starter relay is the black box on the right side at the rear
- Pull the white L-shaped two-pin connector off it
- Sort-of reconnect the battery i.e. just hold the cable on

If it starts churning again then the relay contacts are welded together.
