'92 K75, 15K miles. Throttle response hesitation when engine is cold (sputters, coughs, hesitates). Runs fine after warm up. Ambient air temp has no effect (same result - summer 90F, winter 40F). >> All rubber replaced, includes fuel system, pump, lines, filters, injectors sp. plugs etc. >Replaced MAF sensor. >Adjusted valves. >Adjusted and synced intakes. >Checked and secured all electrical connections. >Checked idle circuit. >Removed, cleaned, plug wires. >Replaced water temp sensor.
Next stop Coils and Plug Wires.
What have I missed? Suggestions, thoughts?  - THX

I'm interested in knowing whether you let the moto idle before riding off, whether you use the increased cold starting speed adjuster (choke control) when starting, and how much time it takes the engine to warm up and run fine. Smile

Length of time to warm up and proceed without hesitation depends on ambient temperature. It may take 3 or 4 minutes at med-high idle in winter - and 2 minutes in summer temps. I usually let it fast idle a while then drive around the neighborhood for a few blocks at 10-15mph before I can head out at 35-40 without sputtering. After a mile or so it's perfect for the rest of the day.

No two motors run the same, my K needs full choke to start and ride off and a few minutes in slow traffic. My mates 75s needs no choke to start or ride off. We have pulled the sparkplugs on both, looked the same nice colour no soot. You might try same with your K just to be sure Very Happy Very Happy

BMW recommends starting the Brick and riding off, not idling; that works for me, too, down to 17ºF but by that time snow then mud usually make a ride on the gravel road down the mountain unappealing to me until April. K75 - Cold throttle hesitation - stumble. 177381

I have a '95 K75 and its cold start lever only has two positions—fast and faster. Try starting then riding right off at its lower setting; a quarter mile to a mile of riding might be all it needs to settle down. I shut the cold start down after the Brick is in third gear and always get dependable throttle response after a mile. It also gets a predictable 50 mpg during the riding season.

Like moriarti indicates, some Bricks can be cold blooded, but that is only an ephemeral state. A Brick that runs fine after a couple of minutes is preferable to one that starts off fine then runs not-so-fine after a couple of minutes, which is more often the complaint around here. Smile

Good luck!

I have managed to accumulate several bricks. All have different starting preferences but all do not run smooth till they get up to normal operating temperature. The slowest one to warm up may take up to ten miles (on a very cold day) and one if I try to start on high idle on a warm day it will flood and be very hard to get fired up. Because of my lazy nature I have learned to accept them and love them for who they are.

I just fire up and ride. Have always done that.
