Have been watching various threads for a while and found heaps of huid stuff here, but haven’t introduced myself yet && not shown what I’m working on, it’s time to do so.

Recently new to K bikes, but have had bikes for a long time, it all started when I sold my Honda CB1300 and purchased a rockster. Just loved the sound and feeling of the boxer engines. Still have that bike, but it’s back in NL.
Been in oz for a while and decided life is too short to not have a bike and bought a bike that my dad started with; well similar. He had a k75 from memory, so looked around and found a great 93 k1100LT. Great bike, and to good to fiddle with.

And I like fiddeling!

So bought another bike, a 2009 R1200R, as my ‘daily’ ride. Again, boxers are great, and the bikes with the Telelever, I enjoy how they handle.

Recently though I bought a very old rusted k100rs. It’s a 89, one of the first ones with ABS. Engine was running, the guy I bought it from out new injectors in it, but clutch cable was gonex so I could not test.

Fast forward, I’ve now replaced front forks (as the original ones were rusted out) (thanks Thom!)
Did all fluids, filters, spark plugs etc. Did the brakes, sorted out some electrical issues, and even took it for a little ride around the block (it’s not registered yet) - runs well; maybe a bit rich.

Still need to find a set of mirrors, and some body panels, but getting there to get it registered and then pull it apart to completely overhaul/rebuild.

Let me see if I can add a picture to this post,

Great to be part of this forum,

Cheers from Perth !

That worked. Note the tank and rear wheel (with disk) borrowed from the k1100; as the ones for the k100 are in bad shape… Wink

Hey All,
Have been quiet here, but that’s not to say that I haven’t been busy. Did a lot of work on the backend of the k100 over the last few weeks.

It started with checking valves and doing those, and at the same time wanted to the splines (did not do those since I picked up the bike)
Fast forward,
- done the valves
- removed everything and replaced the rear main seal
- new clutch
- alternator revision
- starter revision
- overhauled the Center stand
- cleaned up gearbox; swing arm, final drive
- cleaned and painted rear set, foot plates (or whatever they called)
Etc etc.

Putting it all back together now and it’s starting to look like a bike again.

Question for the Ozzie’s here… while I have staburag NPU30, I do read some people (including Chris Harris) use different high moly grease for final drive etc . (Read a lot cheaper as well)

What do you use, and is generally available in Australia? (Or in Perth)
I find it hard to find anything…

(Again, for now I just use npu30)

Cheers, Yuri
