I need a new seat latch for my K75 (#8 in the picture below).  It has a broken catch so the seat won't latch shut.  Anyone have a spare to sell?

I have a complete latch somewhere which I don't need although it does not have a key.  It came with a batch of stuff and is in good condition.    

I can post it unless you find one closer, with a key.  Don't want anything for it.

If you get stuck and nothing comes through I had repaired one using a paperclip, epoxy and a bit of tender filing. So if your in a jam I could make a sketch the process.

The hook portion of the catch has broken off and looks like it won't be easily repaired. You can see that in the picture below.

Thank you for that offer Tackler. I think I have a line on a latch from a local guy. I'll let you know if I manage to obtain one locally.

In post 4's image, this exactly how mine broke. If you see it is grooved, this is were I used a paperclip to strengthen it.

 Here's how I repaired mine, epoxy is frustrating to use on small projects.

1) small amount of epoxy to glue it back together, let cure over night.

2) cut and bend a paperclip to fit in the groove.

3) using more epoxy fill in the groove and all around like a cast, let cure overnight

4) dremel or small file to return to close to original form but leaving enough epoxy to hold it together


I always place an item over the latch so the metal latch doesn't break the repair if the seat falls shut. Also, I ALWAYS push in the button mechanism before closing the seat.

I am probably not going to take the seat lock and latch apart for a photo op....

I met a guy today who gave me a couple of (useless to him) latches. They had defective locks but everything else was intact and working. So I swapped out my broken parts for working parts. Everything is back to normal again.

The Great Pumpkin put a kabosh on mine today as my repair failed. It's supposed to fail at the end of riding season- aaargh...

My backup plan is a piece of chain which drops down and hooks onto the helmet look. Tape is to reduce frame scratchin'.
