Any Ks up there learning to swim? News reports so far have you guys as having avoided any serious trouble, bar the poor girl who got hit by lightning.

Thanks for asking Dai. Fortunately where I live tends to miss just about all of the bad weather. The storms tend to go north or south of us or both. We've only been hit with hail 2-3 times and it was small stuff not car/bike destroying stuff. We're also high enough not to flood. I've heard a few reasons as to why but I'm not sure if they hold water/hail. Some of the other Kronies might put in their two bobs worth.
Regards Martin. santa rendeer

When I lived up that party of the country, once I had my topbox half full of water.

I was a bit further south and a previous flood was two Besa block bricks high underneath the house which would have covered the 75's foot pegs.  A bit difficult to get it up stairs and into the kitchen unlike the washing machine.  Just checking the flood map there today, the old Bruce Highway bridge was 7.5 metres below water which was just below the Major flood level.  Depending on which part of town you were in the previous 24 hour period rainfall was between one to one and a half metres worth.

Unfortunately Wujul Wujul was not blown away.  The humidity in that this time of year in that part of town is exceedingly oppressive.  You can literally cut it with a knife.

I've always thought that the Thursday Islands would be a beautiful place to live, if you could stand the cyclones.

From the news last night, the town that I used to work in had a crocodile being caught in the main street.  There is a creek there and when flooded to this level it cuts the town and the highway in two.

As for TI, yes a lovely part of the world but the locals can be a bit anti at times.  We flew up from Cairns and ended up in Mt. Isa for the night after various stops along the way.  Closest I was after that was Weipa for about ten days but it is a mining town.  Beautiful but rugged country up there.

The 75S has only been as far as north as Cairns tho'.
