Greetings all
As mentioned in the heading, I only this last weekend bought my first BMW
I'm not new to riding by a long shot
Once upon a past life I was a 4 season rider in central Ohio on a 1970 Honda CB 750
Too too many miles under my butt to count back then
I always said that when I grew up I would ride a BMW
I guess I've grown up
I'm a part time fire fighter and EMT and a full time jack of all trades with most of my current energy going into custom timber framing
Living the dream
I'm 42 so you would think I would know better
Some how that just doesn't seem to be the case
Parked in my garage is a 1977 Jawa 350 TS with a Velorex side car waiting to be put together and ridden
It's my 3rd side car
Quite a few miles on the hack too
The bike I got is a slightly beaten 1985 K100 RT
Plating it tomorrow and I can hardly wait
It's good to know that y'all are out there
I'm pretty isolated where I live and totally cut off from my old riding club
Here's to the beginning of something wonderful

Welcome Charles. "Something wonderful" here indeed.

I know how you feel about isolated, when I bought my LT there was no one near me with and interest in K's but through the forum and new people joining we now have an intrepid band of enthusiasts and even managed our first Irish meet last weekend.

You'll find lots of camaraderie on here and technical help too. Safe riding!

Welcome aboard Charles Farmmedic
that's the same as my bike and I am isolated here as well. As 88k says, with the help of every one here, a solution is just an overnight post away mostly.
I'd love to see some pictures of your country side when you get a chance.

welcome charles

good to hear another k bike is about to hit the road again .

we have a "portal page" on which you may find many suggestions ..from experience ...for maintenance of these old birds ..

just remember that rubber doesnt age well , often we find that things are fine for a while ,,,but with use these things rubbery fail , please have a look around and in the tank for any sign of flaking, porousness or just breakdown of the rubber mounts for the pump in the tank . ditch the fuel if its been sitting for any long term and refresh ...

good riding to you mate (from down under )
