So probably made another rookie mistake. Wired in LED turn signals to the existing blinker circuit. Tried to test the LED and I've now caused my blinker relay to make a buzzing sound when I use the left hand signal with the LED steadily lit. How do I fix this

I am going to stick my neck out here into unknown territory and say 'I think you need a resistor in there so the bike recognises the LEDs as a light and not a blown globe'

I agree Rossco...Halo told me the ratio once but in one ear out the other...but apparently so many OHMS per each value of LED....

7 to 8 ohm resistor across each led and then the system draws enough power to make the relay work as it should, it appears to the blinker unit that there are bulbs in the circuit.

Thanks guys always appreciate the wealth of information on this forum! I would be staring at my bike all day making no progress if it weren't for the support here!

So another silly point of clarification here.....only one resistor per LED correct? When I'm looking for resistors is 1/4 wattage going to work? Also, will that fix the loud buzzing sound I get from the relay (only happens on the left turn signal side because that's the only LED I wired up and tested)? Thanks!

no ! the 1/4 watt resistor will not work well .
8 ohms across 12 volts will dissaapate quite a bit of heat ....equivalent to 18 odd watts or 1.5 amps round about ....? so a 20 watt resistor or combination of resistors will be required
the resistor is going to cost many times more than a standard globe ....of corse you could hide a globe somewhere so it cant be seen and wire the leds straight across that circuit . as a cheepo way out

yes indeed cafe ...and a great price too

you will need to find some form of mounting for them ....perhaps some 20 x 20 mm angle iron - aluminium chanel or something ...to mechanically hold them ...maybe some stainless cable ties to bond them to the bracket ...possibly under the tank

and connect to them with some "flexible" cable with crimp type connections ....soldered connections may crack over time

get 4 x off ...they are "cheep as" and you will need 4 anyhow

Perfect thank you! They are on order so now just have to wait for delivery. In the meantime I will continue to tackle my starting problems. I'm putting a cafe style seat on the bike so I think I can mount the rear blinker resistors under there....plenty of space....and the fronts will likely be under the tank. Thanks for the help!
