Hello everyone,
My name is Pete, and I’m Australian. I recently acquired a K100RS and would like to join the forum.
Like some others, I am returning to motorcycling, after a short twenty-year break. Although I’m
approaching the half-ton milestone, this is my first BMW; in fact my first road bike.
My riding history consists mainly of dirt bikes. I began as a teenager and did a heap of trail riding and some club level racing in my twenties.
Then I faded out of riding to do the family thing.
Originally from Melbourne, we now live in Cairns.
Recently, a friend here turned up with a K100, and over several many beers, convinced me that I too should get one. I’d never really thought about buying a BMW, but as I looked into it, found the price of these machines quite attractive when
compared to other “classics". K bikes are not so common in this part of the world, so I bought a bike in NSW and trucked it up North. Until I got this bike, I'd never ridden a BMW”. I am now coming to grips with both riding and maintaining it. Let's just say, it's growing on me.

Hi Pete,
Welcome on here.
There's a great bunch of people here and you will never be short of company or answers.
Like you I came back to biking last year after a similar long break and though I am well past the half-ton milestone there's life in the old dog yet.
Got myself a K1100lt, that was lying abandoned and unloved the last 10 yrs or so.
Back in the 80's I could only have dreamed of owning a bike like that.
As you say, getting used to it, but what a beaut to ride and go....happy days .

adios

Hey, thanks for the welcome everyone.
I'm not busy Saturday, but I think I'll need more than Saturday to get to Narrandera and back. Wink
