Amazing what happens when you wear a K Forum T shirt whilst on holiday. A potential forum member was asking me questions about his K1100 when he mentioned Taffy. Some of us including Rick G have mysterious "taffy" and a date painted inside our instruments.
Apparently Taffy, who passed away late last year, was a bike mechanic in the Canberra region and was responsible for servicing the Ks in the 1980s....including all the police bikes. Real name was Nev Williams and he was regarded as a "character" as he "test rode" many police bikes, especially if they were left in his care overnight.
The information I was given suggests that maybe the telltale "taffy" inside the instruments was one of his little jokes......graffiti artist and his tag?

Rick....Harold Holt was spirited away by a whale and a bloke called Jonah. Just another piece of trivia......Billy "big ears" McMahon was cremated, but his ashes were never collected by his dear Sonia. All of this came up when some smart government official came up with an idea to dig up all our past PMs and rebury them in Canberra...as a tribute.........or tourist attraction.

I thought he was kidnapped by aliens and is now being endlessly probed by green men from the planet Zog.
As for Big Ears you tend not to get much in the way of ashes there wasnt much to him when alive.
