Hi All
Having spent many months looking for a project i recently purchased a  K100 RT that needs work.  (Built 10-1984)

The seller had inherited the bike from an uncle who had started to restore the bike but did not complete it so it was a non runner with lots of bits in boxes. The price was good so i took a chance. Any of the missing /faulty parts were sourced from a local bike breaker and eventually a got the engine started . It sounded sweet enough to my untrained ear. The only thing I noticed was what can be best be described as a "knock" coming from the back on the engine somewhere. I took it for a short drive up and down the lane to confirm the gearbox worked OK (Which it does). So now i have started to dismantle. The intention is to do a cafe racer style build.  I have already learned a lot from the excellent information on this forum and am looking forward to hopefully getting some advice as needed.

Hi Niall

Welcome to the forum.

A few of us Irish Eccentrics are meeting up on Saturday next (28th) 11am at Stradbally Fayre for a Christmas brunch. Probably break up around 1 to 1.30. A chance in a million to meet a few fellow K bikers. If weather is bad or bike is hung over hop in the car and come along rather than miss out. You would be very welcome. We travel from Cork Dublin Meath Cashel Wexford Belfast and more so you would be in good company. Its a nice sociable occasion and you would be home in daylight. Check out Irish Eccentrics.

Stradbally Co Laois that is, its just 6 miles down the main Carlow Road from Portlaoise. Its no distance from Galway.

There will be other times and we will keep you in the loop. I am sure we will be over your way too. You have some nice roads there, love the coastal route west of Galway out through Forbo and Rosmuc and Kylemore Abbey and Delphi.

Welcome Cossie! I was in you windy corner of the word for new year. I like the colour scheme. If you are cafe converting those of us with RT's and LT's will be grateful of the offer of any bodywork you are off loading.

I love the seat cover, very unusual an period.

Hi Guys
Happy new year. Things are progressing well. I will post some photos later in the week. All fairing parts, infill,  front and rear lights rear tailpiece are available . The seat is not . all parts are good apart from the main fairing (the 2 forward bonded in mounting bolts are broken off and the fairing has a bit of a dent).
