Can I fit the throttle bodies from a 92 K100 to an 84 model bike? I can see straight away that the throttle cable bracket is on the opposite side of the TB's. Can the earlier bracket be removed and fitted to the later set or is the throttle cam set up differently and would there be any other issues??

Cheers

the tps is another issue ...and how it mounts onto the shaft assembly and the coupling ....well thats from experience on a 8 valve compared to a k1100 ....but imagine it would be similar ..

havent actually held a 16 valve k100 tb  yet
so just a heads up

If they came from an 8V engine but by what you say they are off a K100RS which for that year is a 16v engine
They can be made to fit but unless you are after the extra performance it's not worth doing.

It's a synch. I did it to mine, as well have others, a long time ago. Check this and other links. 16V TBs are 35mm. 8V TBs are 33mm. The TPS is different but can be fabbed to fit, or just leave it disconnected. Read about how to make the throttle cable work as I did.

Thanks for the replies.

This wasn't about trying to improve performance it was simply looking for a cosmetically better set of TB's to replace the ones on my bike which are perfectly serviceable.

See TB rebuild question thread

The seed got planted so now I've ended up buying a set of K1100 TB's. Will advise on how easy it is to fit them to my K100.

possibly the best option is to modify the half moon shaft that mates to the tps and retrofit the 8 valve tps switch

block all the rear ports on the throttle bodies (not needed on the 8 valve ) ...as twb did or another member changed the shaft through the number 4 tb  to the 8 valve type so as to make the shaft mate to the tps ...just purrrrfect

if your going all that way ...can i suggest smoothing out the lip on the entry and the lip on the exit of the throttle bodies and blend them back to the circumference of the entry/exit  port ?

by doing this on the 8 valve tbs I saw an increase in flow of about  4 %  so might also make a difference on the 16 valve or 1100 types as well

you might look into the 16 valve injector swap over as well...might make a difference in addition

I think twb documented that as well.

Hi Charlie99

I'd already decided to swap the butterfly shafts on No.4 to make the 8V TPS an easier fit. Thanks for the tip on smoothing the edges. Other advice I've read suggests that the 8V injectors are better suited to this mod but if I find I'm running lean I can always go with the 16v injectors which I assume simply flow more fuel? I'm more concerned about the throttle cable fit but feel fairly confident that I can cobble something together.

I'm a little torn at the moment between a café racer and keeping it original, the naked K100 with the headlight fairing seems to be fairly rare these days, not that I would undertake any irreversible mod. I've already got some 'S' forks and a paralever rear end with suitable gear box. I've also been having a look at these guys site:

http://www.bskspeedworks.co.uk/

Their rear-sets are a work of art but slightly on the expensive side. They also manufacture a 4 -1 collector box that would give more silencer options, no price listed but I'm guessing it won't be in the bargain basement category. The major benefit for me though is that they are in the right country for reasonably priced delivery.

What to do............memories of a Read Titan Honda CB250 back in the seventies and the just finished restoration of a GPZ1000RX to a relentless, out of the box, standard are urging me in the modified route  Question

there is a bracket which differs from the early 2 piece throttle cable for the throttle cable linkage to throttle bodies .
the difference seems to be that the latter cable bracket is a through bracket then capture ...rather than adaptor then bracket ..as in the older models ....or something like that

I got one from the bins ,,,with a new cable

from memory a little adjustment was required on the 1100 throttle bodies fit up best check twbs thread again

good luck
