It's easy - just not the first time (aka 'learning curve). Profuse sweating and subsequent sore muscles can be anticipated. Swearing optional. The good news is that once you've gathered a decent kit you'll be able to do this cheaply and at your convenience....
OK. I think I'll give this a go. Won't be doing the lighter trick tho.

I'll order the Bridgestone BT-023 and Avon Azaro AV46 from the states (thanks RicK) with a bit of gear so I can fit these myself.

Cheers

Hello Gents,
So I read this thread as I was due a new front tire. I was shocked to find the old Bridgestone I was on was almost 10 years old! It became priority number one as my k is my daily commuter.

I ended up going with a 110/90 Bridgestone Spitfire cause a buddy that runs an old BMW R resto shop gives me like new tires from the occasional k that comes through if he parts them out. (I always drop off some parts that he can make good money on cause he's a great source of knowledge and help)

Anyway....wow. I'm not sure if it's the upgrade to a slightly wider tire, or the fact that the other was so shitty, but the ride is SOOO much smoother in turns and way easier to balance at slow speeds. Inspires way more confidence all around.

It is truely amazing how you adapt to the slow degredation of a tyre and the handling problems that go along with it. Then when a new tyre is fitted you realize just how bad it was or in some cases the rider thinks that the new brand is just so much better than the old one.
